Arsenal need to sell to buy
The Sun have reported that Arsenal may sell Kieran Tierney after he struggled to adjust to the demands of manager Mikel Arteta.
The Arsenal boss could then use the funds raised by a sale to pursue the signatures of forwards Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.
The paper writes: "The Gunners boss has hinted that Kieran Tierney could be sold to raise funds after admitting the Scottish full-back still cannot play in the system that he prefers.
"Former target Ademola Lookman, 27, is ripping it up for Atalanta, netting 17 goals last term – including a Europa League final hat-trick – and already has 10 in 17 games this campaign after scoring in their 3-2 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.
"He joined the Italians in August 2022 for an initial fee of around £12.5m on a four-year deal, but looks unlikely to leave next month even if the Gunners offer double what Atalanta paid for him.
"Arsenal have kept tabs on Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko but would likely need to offload before bringing anyone in.
"Should defensive issues persist, then Arteta may be forced to add to his numbers. Versatile Ajax starlet Jorrel Hato, 18, has been a long-term target but could cost between £25m and £30m."
United eye Leon transfer
Manchester United hope to sign Cerro Porteno left-back Diego Leon as their defensive problems continue, according to The Mirror.
With Luke Shaw out injured, United could also move for more established players such as Alphonso Davies and Theo Hernandez.
The paper reports: "Manchester United are closing in on Paraguayan wonderkid Diego Leon as a solution to their left-sided issues, it has been claimed.
"The 17-year-old has caught the eye while playing for Cerro Porteno in his homeland. He scored on his debut in August and has added one further goal, and was an unused sub for both legs of a Copa Sudamericana clash with Brazilian side Atletico Paranaense.
"Leon, who is expected to cost around £3.1 million, isn't the only left-back on United's radar amid suggestions Amorim may go after someone capable of operating in his preferred 3-4-3 set-up. Alphonso Davies and Theo Hernandez have both been linked, with Shaw's latest agonising injury setback potentially forcing the club into action in January."
United would accept £40m for Rashford
Manchester United would accept a bid of £40 million for their out-of-form forward Marcus Rashford, per The Daily Mail.
The Mail states that given PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules), his status as a homegrown player gives the club a reason to sell.
The paper explains: "Manchester United would consider offers of £40 million for Marcus Rashford but accept there are unlikely to be any bidders for the England forward in the January transfer window, Mail Sport understands.
"United are under pressure to sell players to comply with profit and sustainability rules, and raise funds for new head coach Ruben Amorim to strengthen his squad.
"Selling homegrown players counts as 100 percent profit on the PSR balance sheet, and for some time now the spotlight has fallen on Rashford who has been at the club since the age of seven.
"Another option would be for United to sell either of their two crown jewels - Kobbie Mainoo or Alejandro Garnacho - but that is something the club want to avoid."
Wolves explored O’Neil alternatives
Wolverhampton Wanderers have looked at Graham Potter as a potential replacement for Gary O’Neil, according to The Athletic.
Their current manager is struggling to improve his side’s fortunes this season, though The Athletic believes Wolves are keen to back him still.
The website states: "There are several reasons why a manager for whom support appears unsustainable will stay in the hot seat, one of which is that Wolves still believe he is a real coaching talent.
"And according to sources, Wolves spent the start of the last international break sounding out potential replacements for O’Neil. That, despite the fact Wolves went into it on the back of their first win of the season against Southampton.
"Those who were contacted discreetly in case a change was made included representatives of Graham Potter, the former Chelsea and Brighton manager, who is one of two out-of-work managers with relatively recent Premier League success. But despite some early optimism, Potter eventually decided not to progress the conversations."
