Gordon close to agreeing new deal at Newcastle

Anthony Gordon is close to agreeing a new long-term contract with Newcastle, according to a report in the Mail.
The news will come as a huge blow to Liverpool and Arsenal, who are said to be admirers of the 23-year-old winger.
“Newcastle and Anthony Gordon are close to agreeing a new contract that will see the England winger extend his stay at St James' Park,” notes the outlet.
According to the report, “significant progress” has been made between club and player in recent weeks.
“Crucially, Gordon wants to sign the new contract and rediscover his best form in a black and white shirt,” it adds.
“Interest from Liverpool and Arsenal remains, but the 23-year-old is happy and settled on Tyneside and appreciates the improvement he has made under Eddie Howe.”

Bayern PUt £120m price tag on Musiala

Bayern Munich have reportedly put a £120 million transfer tag on Jamal Musiala and have stepped up contract talks in a bid to fend off interested parties.
It is said that Musiala had been unhappy with a previous offer from his club – alerting Manchester United and Arsenal among other European clubs – but the Bavarian giants are naturally desperate to keep a hold of one of their star players and have re-entered negotiations with the 21-year-old.
“Bayern Munich are making progress on contract negotiations with playmaker Jamal Musiala after concerns about his future at the Allianz Arena,” states an article in the Mirror.
“The 21-year-old - who is seen as one of Europe's most talented midfielders - has less than two years remaining on his Bayern contract, which expires in the summer of 2026, and the club have been eager to tie him down to fresh terms amid interest from rival teams.
“Earlier last month sporting director Max Eberl admitted discussions had not gone as smoothly as he had hoped - with the Germany international said to be demanding around £300,000 a week, putting him in the same bracket as star man Harry Kane.
“But now Vincent Kompany's side have started to make a breakthrough in talks, according to German outlet Abendzeitung, with claims there have been some ‘very positive’ talks as Bayern bid to ward off interest from Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Real Madrid.”

Man Utd could move for Branthwaite in January

A report in the Manchester Evening News claims Manchester United are still interested in Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
Erik ten Hag’s side reportedly had two bids rejected for the England international in the summer and instead turned to Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Lille’s Leny Yoro.
But The Red Devils may launch another offer for Branthwaite in January.
“According to HITC, United remain determined to try and sign Branthwaite and will make a fresh attempt to bring the defender to Old Trafford in the New Year,” states the outlet.
“This is despite United already signing Leny Yoro and Matthis de Ligt to strengthen the centre-back position in the squad.
“It has been claimed that United sporting director Dan Ashworth is leading the quest to sign Branthwaite in the New Year.”
