League leaders Arsenal are in a position they haven't been in for some time now and it's no surprise that Mikel Arteta has looked to improve his squad during the January transfer window. That improvement has come with the £27 million signing of Belgium forward Leandro Trossard from fellow Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion after he fell out of favour.

'If I don't win you will kill me' - Xavi on the pressure as Barca manager

Premier League leaders Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Belgium forward Leandro Trossard from fellow Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.
Trossard, 28, becomes the club's first signing of the January window as they look to solidify their place at the top of the table, and joins for a fee reported to be £27 million.
“I’m really excited to get started,” he told the club's website. “This is a big club and I’m ready to show the fans what I can do. Everyone has seen how well we’re doing already and I’m here to help achieve their dreams - including myself.
“I’m going to take it day by day, work hard and try to help the team to achieve their goals. [I want to] get better as well. I know the manager is a great coach and I hope to be involved in doing great things and getting better as a player in every aspect.
“I’m really excited to see the fans in the stadium. I hope I can give you my all. I want to try and create as many magic moments as possible, and hopefully we can celebrate together.”
The Belgium international joined Brighton from Genk in 2019 and went on to make 116 Premier League appearances for the club.
However he had fallen out of favour following the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi to replace Graham Potter, who left to join Chelsea.
Now he joins the league leaders as they look to win their first Premier League title since 2004.
Manager Mikel Arteta added: “It is good work from everyone at the club to complete the signing of Leandro.
"He is a versatile player with high technical ability, intelligence and a great deal of experience in the Premier League and at international level.
"Leandro strengthens our squad as we head into the second part of the season and we’re all looking forward to working with him. We welcome Leandro and his family to Arsenal Football Club.”
The club also confirmed that all the relevant paperwork for the transfer had been submitted and approved, meaning the player could be in contention to make his debut in the club's cruch Premier League clash against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
