Chelsea 5-0 Morecambe: Tosin Adarabioyo and Joao Felix hit doubles as classy Blues book spot in FA Cup fourth round

Tosin Adarabioyo and Joao Felix helped themselves to doubles as Chelsea overpowered League Two minnows Morecambe in the second half to complete a 5-0 rout in the FA Cup third round at Stamford Bridge.

Derek Adams' visitors were bidding to reach the fourth round for the first time and were boosted by seeing goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne save a penalty from Christopher Nkunku on 17 minutes after Yann Songo'o had handled in his own box.

But central defender Tosin grabbed the vital opener on 39 minutes via a deflected drive from distance for the eight-time winners before the roof fell in on Morecambe as they were pressed further back the longer the match progressed.

Nkunku punished some poor defending to add the second on 50 minutes with Tosin planting a fine third into the net on 70 minutes to end any prospects of an upset.

Felix would provide two (70' and 75') clinical finishes of his own to give the scoreline a fairer reflection of Chelsea's second-half dominance.

The 3,000 Morecambe fans never stopped singing with their side, second bottom of League Two and fighting relegation from the fourth tier of the English game, set to earn a £350,000 cheque for their trip to London.

Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca's buoyant side can look forward to the draw for the fourth round on Sunday night after ending a four-match winless run.

They are through to the fourth round without much fuss. Goals from Tosin Adarabioyo (39', 70') Christopher Nkunku (50') and Joao Felix (75', 77') doing the damage against a side bidding to avoid relegation from League Two.

After going four matches without a win in the Premier League, this is a timely boost for Enzo Maresca's side against the visitors, who fought bravely but were ultimately left outclassed and exhausted in the second half.

What a consolation that would be for the visitors, but Luke Hendrie lashes a long-range hit miles over the bar. It remains 5-0 to Chelsea.

Just too much class in the end as Morecambe's hopes of reaching the fourth round for the first time in their history dimmed amid some tired limbs.

This match is a done deal with Max Taylor replacing Yann Songo'o and Hallam Hope on for Callum Jones.

Not really sure what Jorgensen is doing as he comes for a corner, fails to get there and Harvey Macadam's header is knocked off the line by Disasi. Almost a late consolation for the League Two side.

Marc Cucurella with what looked like the third goal, but his swerving shot flew just the wrong side of the goal with Burgonye struggling to get across and down to the finish.

Which can work for or against you. Slew takes up some decent space in the Chelsea box, but his cross is fairly tame in the end as Jorgensen is alert to pick up the ball.
