FIVE-STAR HAALAND FIRES MAN CITY INTO THE LAST EIGHT
Erling Haaland plundered an astonishing five goals as Manchester City cruised into the quarter final of the FA Cup with a ruthless 6-2 victory over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.
The Norwegian hit-man’s combination with Kevin de Bruyne is as elite as it comes and it was that link-up that paved the way for a first-half masterclass, with the Belgian midfielder providing three sublime passes for the striker to snare a hat-trick inside 40 minutes.
Jordan Clark pulled one back for the hosts with a stunning 25-yard curler on the stroke of half-time and then lashed in a fine volley from Ross Barkley’s pass to ignite hopes of an unlikely comeback on 52 minutes.
However, the visitors immediately quashed their momentum as two more from Haaland prior to the hour mark moved the tie beyond The Hatters, with De Bruyne notching up a fourth assist along the way.
Mateo Kovacic then rubbed salt in Luton’s wounds with a long-range drive 18 minutes from time as City cruised into the draw for the last eight.
Luton will now return their focus to their bid for Premier League survival when they host Aston Villa on Saturday. Manchester City are at home to neighbours Manchester United on Sunday.
FULL TIME!
Luton 2-6 Man City.
MAN CITY'S FOUR CHANGES HAVE QUIETENED THE GAME
It was end-to-end with Luton still pushing but that quadruple of subs for the visitors seems to have taken some of this tempo out of the tie.
City's job is done though. They will be in the hat for the last eight.
LUTON CONTINUE TO PUSH FOR A THIRD GOAL
But it's leaving gaps for City to add to what is bordering on a humiliating scoreline as it is.
Doku has just gone close to a seventh with a rapid run and shot from the right.

GOAL! - LUTON 2-6 MAN CITY: (KOVACIC)
That's another wonderful strike. This time it's Kovacic as he's allowed too much time to thunder a dipping 25-yard strike beyond Krul.

LUTON ATTEMPT
Townsend skews a half volley at the back stick right across the six-yard box. He'll feel he should have done better with that after City had failed to deal with a left-wing cross.

LUTON CHANCES
Ortega does well to thwart Morris after the forward was played into the left side of the box by Barkley.
Luton keep the attack alive and Barkley's curler from 14 yards is tipped past the far post by the keeper.
City then survive a scare from the resulting corner as Chong somehow fails to bundle home from point-blank range following Barkley's flick-on.
MAN CITY CHANCE
De Bruyne surges on to a pass on the right side of the box but his powerhouse strike is beaten away by Krul at his near post.
