Hello and welcome to Eurosport's LIVE text commentary of the FA Cup third round clash between Arsenal and Newcastle. Mikel Arteta's defending champions are heavy favourites to book their place in the fourth round of the competition having won their last three Premier League games. Steve Bruce, meanwhile, has been feeling the pressure since crashing out of the Carabao Cup to Brentford before Christmas, and although Premier League survival is Newcastle's priority, another cup defeat would only worsen the mood around St James' Park.

Arsenal chance! Finally, some goalmouth action! Luiz takes a quick free-kick, lifting a wonderful ball over the top for Aubameyang to run onto. He shoots powerfully at goal from a tight angle, Dubravka makes the save and Willian fires over from the rebound.

Newcastle have lost 17 of their last 19 matches at Arsenal, which takes some doing.

Arsenal's final ball continues to let them down, as Pepe cuts in from the flank but puts too much on his pass searching for Nelson at the far post.
20'
Newcastle break through the middle, with Joelinton leading the charge through the middle. He stutters on the ball, though, only to play it wide to Carroll on the left side of the penalty area and his shot is easily blocked.
18'
Cedric's deep cross is only partially cleared, as Arsenal keep the attack alive. But Willock's touch is too heavy as he tries to control Pepe's pass and Newcastle have the goal-kick.
16'
Another Arsenal attack breaks down as Pepe makes an intelligent run but Willock's pass is played just behind the forward.
15'
Nothing to get overly excited about after 15 minutes, with Arsenal enjoying the lion's share of possession - as expected - without ever looking like hurting Newcastle.

Newcastle are holding a nice defensive line, and Tierney is flagged offside. Bruce will be happy with how disciplined his side have been in the early stages.
10'
Pepe lifts a lovely floated pass over the Newcastle defence, but Nelson - who may have been half-a-yard offside, can't get it under his control and the ball rolls out harmlessly for a Newcastle goal-kick.

Yellow card! An early booking for Lascelles, who puts an end to Arsenal's counter-attack with a cynical foul on Nelson.
8'
Bruce is telling his players to get further forward as Newcastle enjoy a spell of possession. Clark and Dummett both aim crosses in the direction of Carroll, but Arsenal stand firm in defence.
6'
Poor free-kick from Willian as he doesn't get any height on it and the Newcastle wall does its job.
5'
Pepe gets the wrong side of Dummett, who brings the Arsenal forward down and concedes a free-kick in a threatening area.

A busy start for Dubravka, who is able to comfortably gather Pepe's shot from distance after he moved infield from the opposite channel.

Shot! Nelson is immediately involved, cutting in from the left flank and moving into a shoot position. He fails to get much power behind his daisy-cutter, though, and it's an easy save for the returning Dubravka.
