Sterling, 24, hit a brace as Manchester City added the FA Cup to the Premier League and League Cup to become the first men’s team in English football history to claim a treble.
The England man had originally been credited with a hat-trick but his first goal - City's second - was retrospectively given to Gabriel Jesus.
That slight disappointment took none of the gloss off the win for the 24-year-old.
"I grew up here and saw this stadium get built. It's a massive dream come true to win trophies here," Sterling said.
"It's been a long season with the World Cup as well but everyone has been on their A-game and come through."
Sterling’s strikes took his tally for the season to 26 goals in 51 appearances, his best return to date.
