Scotland manager Craig Levein was always expected to hand first call-ups to Dundee United striker Goodwillie, Liverpool defender Wilson and Aston Villa midfielder Bannan for the match at Aberdeen's Pittodrie Stadium.
Goodwillie has scored eight goals in 11 games for United in the Scottish Premier League.
Wilson, 18, has made only one appearance for Liverpool since his ÂŁ2 million switch from Rangers during the close season.
Wilson played in the Premier League side's shock loss to Northampton in the Carling Cup, but was an unused substitute in last week's 3-1 win over Napoli in the Europa League.
Bannon, 20, has made seven appearances for Villa this season, and has been a regular in the Scotland U21 squad.
Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon returns after injury, while Chris Burke and Kevin Kyle have won recalls.
Scotland do not have another competitive match in the Euro 2012 qualifiers until next September.
They lost 3-2 to world champions Spain at Hampden Park last month, a result that leaves them facing an uphill battle to reach their first competitive finals in 14 years.
Scotland are third in Group I with four points from four games.
They are five points behind Spain and need three wins from their final four qualifying games to keep alive realistic hopes of a play-off spot.
They have still to play Lithuania (home), the Czech Republic (home), Liechtenstein (home) and Spain (away).
Scotland squad to face the Faroe Islands on November 16: Charlie Adam (Blackpool), Phil Bardsley (Sunderland), Barry Bannan (Aston Villa, Cameron Bell (Kilmarnock), Christophe Berra (Wolves), Chris Burke (Cardiff City), Gary Caldwell (Wigan Athletic), Kris Commons (Derby County), Graham Dorrans (West Bromwich Albion), Darren Fletcher (Manchester United), Matt Gilks (Blackpool), David Goodwillie (Dundee United), Craig Gordon (Sunderland), Alan Hutton (Tottenham Hotspur), Kevin Kyle (Heart of Midlothian), Jamie Mackie (Queens Park Rangers), James Morrison (West Bromwich Albion), Steven Naismith (Rangers), Steven Whittaker (Rangers), Danny Wilson (Liverpool)
