The former England defender has been offered a one-year deal to remain at the Emirates, but has yet to finalise the terms of any fresh agreement with manager Arsene Wenger.
Celtic have apparently approached Campbell's agent as they prepare for a Champions League qualifying match in July.
The Glasgow club have just completed a wretched campaign. Manager Tony Mowbray was sacked as city rivals Rangers won the Scottish Premier League for a second successive season.
Media reports suggest Celtic's caretaker manager Neil Lennon has recommended the signing of Campbell as he tries to flavour his squad with more leaders.
"I worked very hard to get back to my best and to play in the Champions League again, and I would love the opportunity to continue at Arsenal,'' Campbell told ESPN.
"Although a one-year contract has been offered, these things take some time to thrash out. I imagine Arsene has quite a lot to deal with at the moment, particularly with (Cesc) Fabregas.
"I am in no rush, I would like to stay with Arsenal if I could, however, Celtic are a massive club, a great club, with massive support."
Campbell rejoined Arsenal in January after quitting League Two Notts County after one game last September.
He earned praise for his performances from Wenger in the latter half of the season after replacing the injured Thomas Vermaelen and William Gallas at the heart of the London side's defence.
Campbell, 35, feels he was not included in England's 30-man provisional squad for the World Cup finals because manager Fabio Capello did not rate him.
"After my performances at the back end of the season, it doesn't make sense, as I was still fresh compared to many players who are exhausted after a long season," said Campbell.
"I have never met Capello, but you get the sense that he has never liked me as a player because he has never considered me, as far as I know, which is curious.
"It cannot be my age, because he tried to persuade Paul Scholes to come out of retirement and also went for Jamie Carragher.''
