CISSE AND RABIOT FIRE AMORIM TO DEBUT WIN AS MILAN COACH

Ruben Amorim got off to a winning start as AC Milan head coach after teenage debutant Alphadjo Cisse and Adrien Rabiot struck in the space of three second-half minutes to seal a 2-1 win at Torino.

Chances were in short supply during an uninspiring first half where The Rossoneri dominated possession but struggled to carve out clear-cut opportunities, with wing-back Samuel Chukwueze their liveliest attacking outlet as he forced a save and put in several dangerous crosses.

Milan continued to look like a work in progress in the second half. Club-record signing Goncalo Ramos cut an isolated figure up front and moves often broke down in the final third due to a lack of quality or creativity.

Amorim turned to his experienced bench with little over half an hour remaining by introducing France international Rabiot and former Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, and was soon rewarded as Milan made the breakthrough five minutes later.

Rabiot picked out Cisse in the box, and the 19-year-old took one touch to control before guiding an exquisite finish into the far top corner to ensure his Milan debut was one to remember after being shown faith by Amorim following an impressive pre-season.

Just three minutes later, Rabiot nabbed a goal of his own as he got on the end of an inviting Chukwueze cross to hammer home a volley with 23 minutes remaining.

The one-two punch seemed to wake the hosts up as they suddenly poured forward with hitherto unseen swagger, Alieu Njie hitting the post and Zakaria Aboukhlal missing a sitter before an outrageous Che Adams consolation in stoppage time proved too little, too late.

It will still be a goal the Scot savours for a long time. In a remarkable display of technique, Adams controlled a volley with his back to goal, guiding an improbable finish over his shoulder and into the far top corner past Mike Maignan.
