AC Milan 2-1 Fiorentina result - Rafael Leao's brace sends Rossoneri to the Serie A summit

Rafael Leao's brace sent AC Milan to the top of the Serie A table, as the Rossoneri recovered from a goal down to claim a 2-1 victory over winless Fiorentina at San Siro.

The Portugal international's superb individual effort cancelled out Robin Gosens' opener, before his second goal from the penalty spot sealed all three points to move Massimiliano Allegri's side a point clear of rivals Inter Milan at the top.

There was nothing too much to shout about from a Rossoneri perspective in a largely lacklustre first-half performance, as Stefano Pioli's side comfortably kept the hosts at bay.

Their best chances before the break fell to Fikayo Tomori and Strahinja Pavlovic, who both blazed over the bar from inside the box.

Gosens ensured Milan rued those missed opportunities when the German showed brilliant tenacity to prod the ball home from point-blank range 10 minutes after the restart, as Luca Ranieri headed Nicolo Fagioli's cross into his path.

Leao then entered the fray to restore parity with a wonderful right-footed effort from distance, which beat an unsighted David de Gea just eight minutes later.

The Rossoneri would win it late on when Fabiano Parisi was harshly penalised for a challenge on Santiago Gimenez in the box, and Leao was on hand to convert the resulting penalty.

It marked an unhappy return to San Siro for Stefano Pioli in his 500th Serie A match in charge, and will put him under increasing scrutiny here after another defeat.

The Florence outfit remain in the bottom three and are still winless after seven games, while Milan have now gone six league games unbeaten and lead the way at this early stage of the season.
