BOURNEMOUTH BOSS ROSE DELIVERS POSITIVE SCOTT UPDATE
Bournemouth boss Marco Rose has confirmed that Alex Scott's injury is not as bad as first feared, and that the midfielder could return sooner than initially expected.
Scott withdrew from the England squad to face Czechia earlier this month owing to a thigh injury.
The Cherries star felt the issue prior to the 7-0 win over Croatia at the start of October, but went on to play 70 minutes in the resounding victory.
The 23-year-old had been expected to miss at least eight weeks of action due to the issue.
However, the midfielder may now be available sooner following assessments, which has reduced that timescale.
"We did an MRI and the pictures looked really well. His progression, his healing, is in a good way. Better than we expected," Rose said.
"It means not that he is ready for Sunderland or next week but we can progress his rehab training, we can bring him back on the pitch to see how he responds.
"We are not talking about six to eight weeks anymore. We are quite confident that we get him back maybe a little bit earlier."
And on Scott's recovery, Rose added: "It depends how he responds on the load he gets. We still have to take care, there is still an injury. But it looks much, much better."
Bournemouth welcome Sunderland to the Vitality Stadium on Sunday on the back of a 3-0 UEFA Europa League win over Sturm Graz.

EVERTON CONTRACT TALKS ENTERED A 'LULL', SAYS MOYES
David Moyes has confirmed that talks over a new Everton contract have gone quiet amidst speculation that the club could be put up for sale.
Moyes' current Toffees deal expires at the end of the season, but the Scot admits that further developments on his future at the Hill Dickinson Stadium are not forthcoming.
Speaking ahead of Everton's welcome of Chelsea on Saturday, a match that will be available to watch live with TNT Sports on HBO Max, Moyes said: "There’s been plenty of talks happening through the summer but maybe with the way things have gone at the moment, there’s maybe been a bit of a lull, trying to get things in order.
"But like I’ve said many times, it’s not the most important thing for me. I just want to keep trying to drive Everton on and build them up, and see if we can continue to improve."
Moyes spoke exclusively to TNT Sports' Joleon Lescott ahead of Saturday's early Premier League meeting between Everton and Chelsea, and the full write-up can be read here.

LEEDS AGREE NEW DEAL IN PRINCIPLE WITH FARKE
Leeds United and Daniel Farke have reached an agreement in principle on a new deal that would run through to 2029, reports The Athletic.
The German took over the Elland Road reins back in 2023, and oversaw the Yorkshire side's promotion to the Premier League as Championship winners in 2025.
Farke, whose current deal runs until 2027, guided The Whites to safety upon their return to England's top tier, finishing the season eight points clear of the relegation zone.
The 49-year-old has masterminded a solid start to the Premier League season, with his Leeds side seventh in the league following the opening six games.
Leeds will hope to enjoy a return to winning ways when they host rivals Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

CRYSTAL PALACE BOSS LOOKS AHEAD TO 'SPECIAL' GAME
Crystal Palace head coach Pierre Sage will oversee his first M23 Derby when he takes his Eagles side to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
Sage managed just his second league win since succeeding Oliver Glasner at the Selhurst Park helm last weekend as Palace came from behind to claim a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest.
However, the south London side fell to a UEFA Europa League 3-2 loss to French side Lyon on Thursday night, and he'll hope to mastermind a return to winning ways on the south coast this weekend.
And Sage has revealed his history of the rivalry began the day he arrived at Selhurst Park.
"The first day I came here, the first thing they told me is that, and the last days I have read a lot of articles about the rivalry," the former Lens boss said.
"I understand why, and you know it’s something special, and when it’s something special you have to do a special game. You have to keep in mind that this team has strengths, this team has weaknesses too.
"We have to be really smart in the way we build our way of playing and our game plan for this game, because we have to be not only in a rivalry game but in a smart game."

PORRO CLOSE TO TOTTENHAM RETURN
Pedro Porro is close to a return to full fitness for Tottenham Hotspur, and could be available for head coach Roberto De Zerbi for Monday's welcome of Coventry City.
Porro hasn't played since he was forced off with a suspected hamstring injury in the first half of Spurs' 3-2 home defeat to Aston Villa prior to the international break.
The right-back sat out the 1-1 draw at Manchester United last weekend, and the extended domestic hiatus means that could be the only game Porro misses.
The 27-year-old posted a video on his official Instagram account on Friday that shows him leaping up from a sitting position on to a plyometric box.
The Spurs star captioned the post "almost back" and his availability will be a huge boost for De Zerbi.
Spurs have made a poor start to the season and head into the weekend's Premier League action 19th in the Premier League, just one point above table footers Fulham.

MARESCA CALLS FOR BANANAS FOR CITY'S WELCOME OF IPSWICH
Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca has called for fans to bring their inflatable bananas to the Etihad Stadium for Saturday's Premier League welcome of Ipswich Town.
An independent commission determined that City had committed more than 100 breaches of Premier League regulations following an investigation into their financial affairs.
City maintain their innocence and have appealed against the decision.
Maresca feels everyone has been brought closer together as a result of the ongoing off-field crisis, while supporters have demonstrated their loyalty to the club despite the guilty verdict.
And the return of the inflatable banana in the stands has served to highlight fans' desire to lighten the mood at the club.
The bananas were on full show for the 3-0 win at Liverpool last weekend, and Maresca has asked for similar on Saturday afternoon.
"It's very nice. I didn't know the history behind the banana, but I hope tomorrow I can see many bananas in the stadium," Maresca said.
"I think it creates a nice environment for the fans and for everyone that is in the stadium."
Maresca oversaw a 4-2 home defeat to French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The result was City's second since the Italian succeeded Pep Guardiola in the Etihad Stadium dugout earlier this year.

WATCH OUT FPL FANS: ENZO MARESCA CONSIDERS RESTING HAALAND
Many FPL managers are considering triple captaining Erling Haaland against Ipswich Town for Gameweek 7 – but it could backfire if the Italian coach decides to mix things up on Saturday.
The Norwegian has bagged 10 goals in nine outings for The City-zens so far this term, but after a hectic schedule involving recent encounters at Liverpool and at home to PSG in the UCL, the Italian coach admits he needs to avoid overloading the 26-year-old.
"We probably need to give him some rest and some days off. We are thinking about this,” he told reporters earlier this afternoon.
"It's not just Erling. Other players are also playing all the games with us and their national team. Elliot (Anderson), Enzo (Fernandez), Marc (Guehi) and Ruben (Dias). At some point, we need to give them some rest."

One player who may well offer fresh legs is Phil Foden, who is now available after serving a domestic suspension for his red card in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
"We just try to work with him (Foden) day-by-day,” said Maresca. ”Since his red card and the international break, it has been quite long, but he is training well and is very positive.

"He is available for tomorrow, but we have so many games, so we will decide if he starts tomorrow or not.
"There is no doubt that he is going to give us something."

NEWCASTLE'S JAISSLE ON COVENTRY RESPONSE AND FERNANDEZ-PARDO FORM
"It's never easy after conceding four goals to talk about the structure and what causes us the problems,” said Matthias Jaissle on Thursday, when asked about trying to bounce back from the 4-1 loss last time out.
”Against Coventry, we made too many individual mistakes, you cannot talk about formation or technical approach. Even though we're a young squad, we need to learn fast."
On forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who has yet to find the back of the net for The Magpies: "Young lads coming to the Premier League for the first time need that adaptation time. I got advice that I should be patient at least half a year with them.
"Of course, you don't have the time in the Premier League so the development and adjustment needs to be as fast as possible. He's creating the chances and I think it's just a goal missing to give him the confidence back. He's an amazing player and he has so much potential."

UNAI EMERY ON COMPARISONS BETWEEN MANZAMBI AND EX-VILLAN MORGAN ROGERS
"His (Johan Manzambi’s) adaptation is going quick. He still needs to understand how we want to win a match, but he’s doing things very positive for the team," Emery told his pre-Newcastle press conference this afternoon.
"He can drive and get the ball. He is getting assists and scoring goals.
He's more or less similar (to Rogers), but with his own characteristics as a player.
"He is mature, likes football, responsible and a very good example of the mentality that we need."

'A TREMENDOUS JOB' - DANIEL FARKE BACKS STRUGGLING CARRICK
The Leeds United boss will look to heap more misery on his Manchester United counterpart on Sunday - but ahead of the latest chapter in the Roses Rivalry, the German has defended the work Carrick is doing at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils could see their winless run extend to six matches if they fail to pick up the three points at Elland Road, but Farke insists the Englishman deserves more support.
"When I think about Michael and young coaches, he’s done excellently," Farke told reporters.
"He did brilliantly at Middlesbrough. After six (PL) games, he did not do awfully (at United now). They are mid-table or so. Obviously by their perception they want to be going for a title.
"You don’t need to go for him as a young coach. What he’s done as a coach and as a player, he’s done a tremendous job.
"I don’t think we’re heading in the right direction, it won’t help in the right direction. I don’t like it, I don’t understand it (negativity around Carrick).
"We need to protect young British coaches, even though I am German I feel half British. I think we should back (them) and be happy at someone with so much potential."

DAVID MOYES ON HIS EVERTON FUTURE
The Toffees boss is out of contract in the summer of 2027 and with the club now up for sale, there is uncertainty over the Scot’s long-term role.
Asked if there had been any recent developments over extending his stay, Moyes said: ”Well, I’m getting on with the job and trying to build Everton and keep it going in the right direction.
”Hopefully, we’ve done some half decent things in the last year and half or so, so we’ll see.”
There were local media reports in the summer that suggested talks over a new deal would take place after the transfer window shut, but they have since failed to materialise.
”There’s been plenty of talks happening through the summer,” said Moyes. ”Maybe it’s just the way things have gone at the moment, there’s a bit of a lull maybe, trying to get things in order (with the ownership).
”Look, I’ve said many of times, it’s not the most important thing to me I just want to keep driving Everton on and build them up and see if we can continue to improve.”

ALONSO ON FINDING THE RIGHT BALANCE AFTER FREE-SCORING START TO PL CAMPAIGN
The Blues have been an exciting attacking force so far this term with Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers forging a devastating triumvirate that bodes well for the future.
Alonso has been delighted by the 15 goals his team have scored across six PL matches and wants to continue that trend while tightening up defensively.
"I hope so. Our goal is to keep doing that," he told reporters when asked if they could sustain such an impressive strike-rate.
"We have talked a lot about not conceding that many. If we improve or continue the level of scoring and decrease the numbers we are conceding we will be in a better way, but we need to go game-by-game.
"Tomorrow will be tough, but we are looking forward to this game."
picture

He added: "We want to be flexible but also solid whenever we are pressing high. We think the balance is the right one.
"We chose that way against Bournemouth, Everton will be different. They do many good things and have many good players with experience."
