Wolverhampton Wanderers have expressed an interest in holding discussions with former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag after Gary O’Neil pulled out of the running to return to the club, the Athletic reports.
O’Neil appeared to be nearing a shock return less than 12 months after being sacked by Wolves, but after advanced talks on Monday he decided against the move.
The report reads: "Erik ten Hag is among the other candidates, with Wolves discussing the former Manchester United boss internally and expressing an interest to hold discussions.
"Under-21 head coach James Collins and under-18 head coach Richard Walker are leading the first team as they work on a permanent appointment.
"The Athletic revealed on Sunday that Rob Edwards was also in contention, while Michael Carrick is another admired," The Athletic adds.
"Wolves are without a win in the top flight since the victory over Leicester City on April 26 - a run of 14 league games in total. They are next in action against Chelsea on Saturday."
Odegaard wants Norway call-up
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard could be named in Norway’s upcoming squad for their World Cup qualifiers despite not playing for a month due to injury, The Sun reports.
Odegaard is eager to play the upcoming matches against Estonia and Italy with Norway on the brink of qualifying for a first major tournament since Euro 2000.
The Sun adds: "Top of Group I, a win against Estonia on November 13 could see Norway qualify.
"There have not yet been direct talks with Arsenal and the Premier League leaders will be keen for Odegaard not to take any risks.
"Equally, manager Mikel Arteta might even welcome his key player getting some competitive minutes before the clash against Spurs."
Man Utd’s shortlist pre-Amorim
A shortlist of candidates to replace Ten Hag have been named before Manchester United turned to Ruben Amorim, the Daily Mail reports.
United had considered Thomas Tuchel, Roberto De Zerbi, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank, Marco Silva and Graham Potter – having said to be keen on Premier League experience.
The Mail added: "United started to speak with those individuals, either in person or online, even after they had won the FA Cup, as Ten Hag's future hung in the balance.
"Director of football Jason Wilcox did get in touch with Amorim, and was left impressed by him, but the feeling at Old Trafford was that the jump from Sporting Lisbon to a club in transition would be too great.
"Tuchel met with club chiefs in Monaco but was eager to take a break from the club after leaving Bayern Munich and, in mid-October, was announced as England's next head coach."
