United consider midfield options

The Sun reports that Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton are targets for Manchester United.
The club might need replacements in midfield as Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo could all leave.
The paper writes: "United could be in need of up to two, or three, midfielders next year.
"Casemiro is expected to be released, Bruno Fernandes indicated he could have a decision to make after the World Cup and Kobbie Mainoo was an unused substitute for the third time this season at Forest.
"Mainoo’s request to leave on loan in the final weeks of the summer transfer window was blocked but Amorim is not treating him like an asset.
"Anderson is not the only English midfielder of interest to United. Adam Wharton is a silkier and slighter option who is also operating in a 3-4-2-1 system for Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace.
"Wharton, like Anderson, has done a number on United’s midfield in home and away wins."

Kane linked with Barca switch

The Mirror reports that Harry Kane would consider a move to Barcelona as they look for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
The Bayern Munich striker is one option, as is Julian Alvarez, who is currently at another La Liga side, Atletico Madrid.
The paper explains: "Harry Kane is open to joining Barcelona and has set a timeline to decide his future. Kane, 32, is on course for his best-ever goalscoring season, netting an obscene 22 times in his first 15 games for Bayern Munich.
"The England captain has helped Bayern make a record-breaking start to the campaign, but his long-term future in Germany is uncertain. Kane has a contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2027.
"However, the deal contains a complex release clause worth €65m [£57 million] which will become active next summer. Premier League teams have been alerted to his situation, as have Barca.
"With Robert Lewandowski's contract set to expire next June, the La Liga giants are looking for their next No. 9. Their top target is Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez but Kane has emerged as a serious option."

Wolves eye up new manager

Following the sacking of Vitor Pereira, The Athletic names three candidates to step in at Molineux.
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Gary O’Neil might return, but the outlet also mentions Michael Carrick and Rob Edwards.
The website states: "Wolverhampton Wanderers are considering a shock return for former head coach Gary O’Neil, with Rob Edwards another prominent candidate and Michael Carrick also in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira.
"O’Neil, who was sacked by Wolves less than a year ago, is among multiple options being discussed internally after Pereira was dismissed on Sunday.
"Edwards has a strong connection to Molineux from his time there as a player and youth coach, but his current role in charge of Middlesbrough means any move would require compensation.
"Former Middlesbrough boss Carrick is highly regarded too, and - like O’Neil - is out of work at present."

Wolves also linked with Amorim replacement

The Daily Mail adds another name to the list of options for Wolves, with Sporting CP’s Rui Borges in the frame.
Borges replaced Ruben Amorim last November, when he was appointed as Manchester United manager.
The paper reports: "The club's hierarchy have now begun their search for Pereira's successor, with O'Neil understood to be one of the names under consideration to take over at Molineux.
"The Englishman was only dismissed by the club last December, when Wolves sat 19th in the Premier League after winning just two of their first 15 games. He's been out of work since.
"Sporting Lisbon manager Rui Borges is another manager linked to the job. Having taken over the role in the Portuguese capital from Ruben Amorim last November, he led the club to the Primeira Liga title last term.
"It's, however, thought that the Premier League club would need to pay Sporting a compensation package to secure Borges' services."
