Nottingham Forest 0-0 Wolves result - Sean Dyche's team miss chance to move five points clear of relegation zone after wasteful performance

Nottingham Forest missed out on the chance to go five points clear of the relegation zone after a wasteful 0-0 draw at home to Wolves.

Sean Dyche's team came into the match knowing a win would move them level on points with Tottenham and they dominated from the get-go.

But despite having 35 shots, the hosts rarely came close to scoring. They came closest in the first half after generating a five-on-one chance but Lorenzo Lucca blazed over with his sliding shot.

Wolves rarely threatened but, when they did, Mateus Mane looked the most dangerous, getting into good positions at the end of both halves only to strike both shots straight at Stefan Ortega.

With 15 minutes to go, Forest looked set to take the lead after Igor Jesus's close-range shot was saved by Jose Sa before the goalkeeper recovered quickly to claw away Morato's effort from point-blank range.

Despite the point, Wolves remain well adrift of safety and are now just focusing on avoiding Derby's record of fewest points in a Premier League season. They just need one win to dodge that.

Forest remain 17th, three points clear of West Ham, but have a tricky run of fixtures coming up.

Player of the Match Elliot Anderson speaking to TNT Sports: "Just weren't clinical. We had a lot of the ball and just tried to break down the back five, got some good balls into the box but not clinical enough.

"It just hasn't clicked today but couldn't fault the energy of the lads."

On whether this is a missed opportunity: It's really disappointing, especially at home. Three points was what we wanted, but we didn't lose, so look at the positives there."

On the boos at full-time: "It's frustrating, couldn't fault the lads and just want the crowd behind us. I get it's frustrating for them, but all I say is stick with it.

"There's no time to dwell on things, we've got tough games coming up, and every game matters now."

Forest ended on 35 shots, forcing Sa into 10 saves, but other than the double save with 15 minutes to go, did not have to stretch himself too much.

Anderson then has a speculative first-time shot which is charged down.

But wait! Wolves have four shirts pouring forward and it falls to Mane, but he can only fire it straight at Ortega! That was the chance.

One more Wolves clearance and that will be that! Boos ring around the City Ground.

Marinakis is one unhappy bunny up in the stands.

There is a bunch of head tennis before Ndoye tries a bicycle kick on the edge of the box and horribly mistimes it.

Anderson puts it in once more but Wolves clear again.

Mane fouls Ndoye so it's another opportunity for Forest to stick the ball in the mixer.

Anderson puts it in but it somehow misses everyone and goes straight through for a goal kick.

Forest finally look like they have broken through as Neco Williams puts the ball across the six yard box causing pandemonium.

Jesus flicks on which is straight at Sa from point blank range, but the goalkeeper gets back up to scoop away Malenkovic's rebound effort to keep the scores level.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde comes on for Angel Gomes.

Forest roll the dice now, bringing Igor Jesus on for Lucca. A day to forget for Lucca.

Dan Ndoye is also on for Hudson-Odoi and gets stuck in straight away but he cannot generate any power after winning a header.

Tchatchoua also gets the first yellow card of the match after clipping Williams's boot.

Forest come forward, Forest waste their chance. It has been the story of the match over and over again.

Omari Hutchinson has just put a corner straight out for a goal kick, and is getting heckled by his own fans for it.

Angel Gomes then lines up a strike on the edge of the box but it's straight at Ortega.

Hugo Bueno and Rodrigo Gomes go off, replaced by David Moller Wolfe and Jackson Tchatchoua. We are down to just two Gomeses and one Bueno, but do have a Wolfe on the pitch for Wolves...

Mateus Mane is some talent, but that was not a good shot. It has gone very, very high and very, very wide from 25 yards out.

Mane gets an opening for the first time this match, and fires his shot at Ortega and wins a corner.

Now Wolves need to get on their skates to track back as Forest counter, but once again Gibbs-White finds the wrong pass at the crucial moment.

Again! Forest pour forward but Hudson-Odoi's shot has zero conviction behind it and is easily saved.

Sa is then fortunate not to punch the ball into his own net from a corner. Arokodare gets the ball away properly after the second delivery.

Somehow, Wolves have survived this onslaught today.

Neco Williams does well to track back and block Rodrigo Gomes's cross and concedes a corner. Anderson has taken a whack to his knee but looks okay to continue.

Angel Gomes then takes out Gibbs-White. Anderson stands over the free-kick and, after a few passes, swings it in but Sa punches clear.

Hutchinson puts it back into the danger area but Morato's glancing header goes just wide.

We are now underway for the second half. Goals, please?
