Slot: Alisson to return after international break

Arne Slot delivered an update concerning Alisson’s fitness ahead of Liverpool's clash against Manchester City on Sunday.
The Liverpool boss confirmed that the goalkeeper will return after the upcoming international break.
Slot said the home match against Nottingham Forest on November 22 is a realistic return date for the Brazilian, but will come too soon for Jeremie Frimpong.
"Alisson for sure," he said. "I don't expect Jeremie to be fully fit for Forest, but with Alisson we expect this."
Slot also revealed some positive news concerning Alexander Isak, confirming that the Swede will train with the team again after coming off injured in the UEFA Champions League loss to Galatasaray last month.
"I know I said his pre-season has ended a few weeks ago, but if you've had three weeks with rehab it doesn't bring him back to the levels he was at," Slot explained.
"Even though our rehab has done an incredible job you can't replicate games. Again, I have to say, give him some time."

Guardiola unlikely to ‘take the risk’ with Rodri

Pep Guardiola revealed that Rodri is unlikely to feature for Manchester City against Liverpool in Sunday’s blockbuster Premier League clash.
The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner missed the 4-1 Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund with a slight knock, and Guardiola may omit the Spaniard as a precautionary measure.
"We will see tomorrow, but I think we will not take the risk," said Guardiola in his pre-match press conference.
"It is the international break afterwards and we have to wait for the time when [he] feels strong and fit, you know, and can sustain the actions in the game that is so demanding, so he can sustain it proper and make that step.
"It is still in November. The best part of the season is ahead of us and we need him.
"Still, we are playing without the Ballon d'Or [winner] of two seasons ago. A massively important player for us and we are desperate to have him back, knowing that Nico [Gonzalez] right now is becoming a really important and good player."

Howe: Gordon a doubt for the weekend

It seems that Eddie Howe may have to cope without Anthony Gordon for Newcastle United’s trip to Brentford on Sunday.
Gordon was taken off before half-time in the midweek Champions League win over Athletic Bilbao with a hip problem.
While he could miss the clash with Brentford, that has not stopped Thomas Tuchel from selecting Gordon in England’s latest squad for the forthcoming matches against Serbia and Albania.
Newcastle manager Howe told the media: "We don’t think it is a serious injury, but we are getting him scanned and waiting on the result.
"I think there is every chance he might miss our game on Sunday but we will give him every opportunity to be fit."
Despite the concerns surrounding Gordon, Howe is not worried about the 24-year-old potentially exacerbating the problem on international duty.

"I feel relaxed about him being with England," Howe continued.
"It will all be done with England’s blessing in terms of whether he is fit or not fit. We will work together to find the best solutions for Anthony."
The Magpies boss was more downbeat when discussing Yoane Wissa’s injury woes, with the forward yet to feature for the club following a big-money summer move from Brentford.
"Injuries are part and parcel of football and especially with the schedule we have had," he added.
"The only frustrating thing about this one is that we haven’t seen him, he wasn’t with Newcastle when he did it.
"It’s been difficult because the transfer was with the sight of trying to help us here and now. We need him and we desperately want to see him fit."

Status quo for Arteta ahead of Sunderland trip

Mikel Arteta explained there are no fresh updates ahead of Arsenal’s match away at Sunderland on Saturday evening.
The Gunners boss was quizzed about the availability of Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard, Viktor Gyokeres, Gabriel Martinelli and Noni Madueke for the match.
"I cannot confirm all of that, but you are not far," he told his pre-match press conference.
"There are no updates, the situation remains the same. No new players have joined the squad, so things are still as they are."
When asked if any of those players could return for the match against Tottenham Hotspur on November 23, he replied: "Some of them, perhaps all of them, I don't know. There are a lot of things that need to happen over the next two weeks. Things need to go perfectly, but I think we'll be very close to getting most of the players back in a really strong condition."
Arteta also spoke about Gabriel Jesus’ rehabilitation from a serious injury, after the Brazilian returned to team training this week.
"Now is about making the steps day by day in a different surrounding," he explained.
"Obviously, he’s been doing everything on his own, and now he’s got players around him - very competitive players – and see how he copes with that.
"But he is full of energy. I loved the reaction of all of his teammates when he first joined us [in team training] -and yeah - great to have him back."

Midfielder Romeo Lavia looks set for another spell on the sidelines after being forced off early in Chelsea's Champions League draw at Qarabag on Wednesday.
"We don't have an update at the moment [on Romeo Lavia's injury]," Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca said ahead of facing Wolves at the weekend.
"We have to wait a couple of hours to do the checks, but for sure, he is injured. It's painful.
"It's a shame. It's a shame in this moment also because we are trying to minimise minutes for him. But even with that, he's injured again. We need to insist until we don't find the right solution for him."
There was better news surrounding Pedro Neto though, who missed the midweek trip to Azerbaijan after picking up a knock in the win over Tottenham.
"Pedro had a session yesterday with the physio outside on the pitch; it was good," he added.
"And today he will try with us, and then we will take the final decision."

No fresh injury concerns for Amorim

Ruben Amorim has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Manchester United's clash at Tottenham on Saturday, live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
Lisandro Martinez is the only absentee before the lunchtime match in north London.
Amorim told the media: "No, there’s no change [to what we are doing about injuries].
"It’s one game every week and then a little bit of luck, because sometimes you have problems with players with knocks, it’s not something that is soft tissues.
"So you never know what is going to happen in the next training. If you play with intensity in training, something can happen, but I think the big reason, of course, we try to do everything well, the big reason is [we have only] one game every week.
"You can give one extra day to the players that you know could struggle in the next training. I think that is the biggest reason."

'Excellent finish' - Kudus restores Tottenham’s lead with first goal for club

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank says Mohammed Kudus is a doubt for Manchester United’s visit after missing the midweek Champions League win over FC Copenhagen.
There was positive news concerning Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero, with Frank revealing that duo suffered no ill-effects after starting in midweek.
Frank said: "Yes. Everyone came through it well. Cuti [Romero] and Destiny [Udogie] responded well, fit and available. Kudus is touch and go for tomorrow - we'll see."
The Dane also spoke about Randal Kolo Muani’s progress, and says Dominic Solanke could be ready to return after the upcoming international break.
"He [Kolo Muani] is fit but to do it at the highest possible intensity for 90 minutes, he's not quite there yet. I think it was a positive performance against Copenhagen."
"I like his combination play. I like his link up play. I just think he is a good player."
Speaking about Solanke, he added: "The international break will be key. It was clear he was not ready before. We will look after the international break, that was what we aimed for. It's important that we get [the timing] right."
