Alejandro Garnacho joins 'best team in the world' Chelsea from Premier League rivals Manchester Utd - 'Can't wait to get started'

Chelsea have signed Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, bringing an end to a summer-long transfer saga. The forward came through the ranks at Old Trafford, but struggled last season following the arrival of Ruben Amorim. Garnacho scored 11 goals and registered 10 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions for United last term.

Chelsea have signed Argentina international winger Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United on a seven-year contract to 2032.
Garnacho was in the stands at Stamford Bridge to watch his new side beat Fulham 2-0 in a controversy-packed west London derby on Saturday, and completed a move worth a reported £40 million soon after.
The 21-year-old leaves Old Trafford after five years in Manchester, in which he made 144 senior appearances, scoring 26 goals and winning FA Cup and EFL Cup titles.
He becomes Chelsea's ninth signing of a busy summer in which they were also crowned world champions at the newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
"It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club. I can’t wait to get started," Garnacho told Chelsea's official website.
"I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we’re the best team in the world. It’s amazing to be here and I’m very happy."

Garnacho was reportedly told he was surplus to requirements at the end of a difficult 2024/25 season for Manchester United.
The eight-time Argentina international scored 11 goals and produced 10 assists for The Red Devils in 58 games last term, but it was a season to forget as they slumped to a 15th-placed Premier League finish and lost the UEFA Europa League final to domestic rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
He becomes the latest recruit in a furious summer of ins and outs at Stamford Bridge.
Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Liam Delap, Estevao, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez have also been brought in during the off-season to strengthen Enzo Maresca's squad.
However, an injury to Delap during Saturday's win over Fulham has raised the prospect of more transfer activity before the window closes on Monday.
Heading in the other direction have been a string of stars, including Noni Madueke, Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix, as the Londoners undergo a squad revolution.

Chelsea have started the new campaign strongly, picking up seven points from their opening three Premier League games going into the international break.
Back-to-back victories against West Ham and Fulham came after a draw with Crystal Palace on the opening day.
However, the victory over The Cottagers was dominated by VAR controversy and overshadowed by an injury to Delap that Maresca said could rule him out for up to eight weeks.
That has led to reports that Nicolas Jackson's loan move to Bayern Munich has collapsed at the last minute, with Chelsea needing the Colombian to return to bolster attacking options for a busy season ahead.
