Ruben Amorim says he has 'bigger pressure' at 'bigger club' Manchester United than Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Struggling managers Ruben Amorim and Ange Postecoglou have exchanged words of comfort with one another ahead of Manchester United's trip to Tottenham on Sunday, but the United boss feels he has a greater challenge ahead of him. The Portuguese coach insisted he is at a bigger club with bigger pressure than his opposite number. Meanwhile, Postecoglou backed The Reds to improve under Amorim.

Both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have suffered hugely disappointing campaigns so far and will come to blows on Sunday in a battle of this season's underachievers.
Both managers, Ruben Amorim and Ange Postecoglou, spoke to the media on Friday ahead of the match in north London.
United are in 13th place in the Premier League table with 29 points, while Spurs are languishing in 14th having collected just 27 points from 24 games. Leicester City, in 18th place, currently have 17 points.
Amorim has been in charge of United for 19 games, winning nine of those - including an FA Cup penalty shoot-out win at Arsenal - and lost eight, including a 4-3 League Cup quarter-final defeat to Spurs which kick-started a run of four straight defeats.
Spurs have already lost 13 Premier League matches this season on Postecoglou's watch and although Amorim had some kind words for the Tottenham boss, he feels that he has a tougher task at Old Trafford.
"I am a huge fan of Ange Postecoglou," Amorim said.
"I am from a different culture, Portuguese, and all the Portuguese coaches they can adapt. I adapt. I use one system because I believe if you do that system, you can use other systems at the same time. That is my idea.

"But we are not winning games and I understand the connection with me and Ange. We have the same problems.
"In my opinion, with all due respect, I am at a bigger club, with bigger pressure. It is important for a coach to follow his principles."
The United boss sympathised with Postecoglou and the situation Tottenham find themselves in, while the Australian backed The Red Devils to improve with time under Amorim.

"I have respect for all managers because I know how tough it is to do the job. Ruben is just doing what he wants to do," Postecoglou said.
"Manchester United have scouted him and identified him by looking at the way he does business. You bring him in with a purpose.

"If United stick with Ruben for two years, then they will see progress. Absolutely, because it's how long it takes.
"If anyone believes anything can change in a short space of time, they are living in an alternative universe that is not based on reality.
"If someone shows me someone who has done it in a shorter period without investment, then show me."
