Manchester City reach 'total agreement' to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon - reports

Manchester City are poised to announce the signing of France star Rayan Cherki from Lyon for a fee of around €40 million, according to multiple reports. Cherki is expected to have a medical on Tuesday - the final day of the special transfer window - and link up with City for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. The 21-year-old will sign a deal into 2030 at the Etihad Stadium.

Rayan Cherki is set to complete a move to Manchester City after the Premier League giants reached "total agreement" with Lyon over a €40 million (£33.7m) move, according to multiple reports.
The Athletic are among those to report that Cherki is expected to complete a medical on Tuesday ahead of a switch to the Etihad.
The flurry of activity at the Etihad comes before the first transfer window of the summer closes at 7pm UK time on June 10.
If deals are completed before the deadline, then City can register new players ahead of their Club World Cup campaign, which starts on June 18 again Wydad AC.
Cherki starred for Lyon in 2024/25, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists as they finished sixth in Ligue 1.
He also made an impact in the UEFA Europa League, scoring in both legs of Lyon's quarter-final tie against Manchester United and finishing the season with 12 goals and 20 assists in all competitions.
Cherki can play anywhere across the front line, having operated on both wings, as a central attacking midfielder and as a striker during the season.
His arrival could help fill the void left by the departure of playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, who is leaving after 10 years with the club.
City finished third in the Premier League last season and were beaten in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League by Real Madrid.
