TOTTENHAM BATTLE BACK TO EARN DRAW AHEAD OF BIG TEST IN EUROPE
Substitute Son Heung-min netted a spot kick six minutes from time as Tottenham hit back from two down to rescue a 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth.
The Lilywhites welcomed back Cristian Romero for the first time since November, but the defender appeared rusty as poor distribution from the back saw Evanilson and Justin Kluivert both force excellent saves out of Guglielmo Vicario early on.
The visitors took the lead on 42 minutes when Marcus Tavernier slid home a stunning cross from Milos Kerkez.
Tavernier was then at the heart of a sensational break following the interval that ended with Kluivert firing home, but VAR intervened to wipe out a move-of-the-season contender for offside in the build-up.
The Cherries did double their advantage on 65 minutes when Kluivert set up Evanilson to coolly clip past Vicario, but Spurs hit back two minutes later when Pape Sarr’s overhit cross flew in off the far post.
It was a thrilling end-to-end finale with Kluivert firing against the post for Andoni Iraola’s men, but Spurs rescued a point when Kepa’s rash foul led to a penalty that allowed Son to coolly dink down the middle.
The result sees Bournemouth climb to eighth place, three points behind champions Manchester City who sit fifth.
Tottenham are 10 points further back in 13th spot but will be boosted by the return of the likes of Romero and Micky van de Ven.
Next up, Spurs will aim to overturn a deficit when they host AZ Alkmaar in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League last-16 tie on Thursday night. Ange Postecoglou's men will then visit Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.
Bournemouth host Brentford on Saturday evening.

REACTION AS TOTTENHAM BITE BACK TO EARN THRILLING 2-2 DRAW
Son came off the bench to hold his nerve from the penalty spot, but when asked if it felt like earning a point from 2-0 down was like a win during a post-match interview with Sky Sports, he said: "No, we are still very disappointed and frustrated not to get the three points.
"When you play at home you expect to get three points. Obviously Bournemouth have a really good side, especially this season, they have been outstanding. Even with 2-2 it still feels like it's not good enough for us, we just have to keep going."
Quizzed as to if there was a hangover from the first-leg loss to AZ in the Europa League, Son added: "No, it's tough to say, obviously Thursday was unacceptable. It was not good enough. Today as well we were sloppy in the first half and I wouldn't say it was a hangover, but when you are down and confidence is down, you're trying to do more than you normally do and mistakes can happen."
He concluded: "We have to be strong because a massive game is coming up [second leg v AZ]."

CHERRIES BLOW TWO-GOAL LEAD TO BLUNT EURO BID AS SPURS SET EYES ON AZ
The boos rang out from the home supporters at half-time with Spurs trailing 1-0 and it felt like a fifth loss in seven outings was inevitable when the visitors moved 2-0 ahead.
However, Spurs got out of jail as Sarr’s fortunate cross-shot flew in before Kepa’s poor decision in the Bournemouth goal led to the penalty that allowed Son to rescue a point.
It means Andoni Iraola’s men miss the chance to move within a point of fifth-placed Man City, while Spurs end the game on a high to set them up for their biggest game of the season so far against AZ on Thursday night.

WHAT A TURNAROUND!
It looked like Bournemouth were cruising at 2-0 and even at 2-1 the game looked more likely to head to 3-1 rather than 2-2.
But Kepa's rush of blood to the head has been costly.
Still time for someone to win it too!
