LATE HUDSON-ODOI WINNER GIVES FOREST VITAL WIN OVER CITY IN TOP-FOUR CLASH
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side took a huge stride towards qualifying for the UEFA Champions League with a 1-0 win against Manchester United thanks to a late strike from Callum Hudson-Odoi.
It was a tense and cagey affair in the first half, with the first shot on target for either side coming in the 42nd minute. Manchester City dominated possession and Nottingham Forest denied the visitors any space in behind thanks to their disciplined defensive structure.
The second half started in the same fashion, with Guardiola making four changes in quick succession in a bid to kickstart a City performance.
Nottingham Forest were denied the lead thanks to a sensational save from Ederson in the 67th minute, with the Brazilian keeper diving at full stretch to tip Hudson-Odoi’s vicious effort onto the post.
Hudson-Odoi would not be denied a second time though, with the 24-year-old receiving a brilliant pass from Morgan Gibbs-White before driving into the box and smashing his effort past Ederson at the near post.
City huffed and puffed in response but struggled to break down Forest’s resolute defence and left the City Ground with a defeat, sitting four points behind their opponents in fourth.
