BLUES DENY FOREST TO SEAL CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL
Levi Colwill's second-half goal secured victory for Chelsea over Nottingham Forest in a Champions League shoot-out at the City Ground.
The win sees Chelsea move into fourth spot above Newcastle and Aston Villa, whose defeats meant Forest would have qualified for the elite European football competition with a win.
Despite vocal support from their home fans, Chelsea's defence and goalkeeper looked pretty secure for most of the game.
In a first half with little goalmouth action, both Pedro Neto and Chris Wood volleyed first-time chances over the bar from right-wing centres, before a poor header from Neco Williams allowed Neto to push the ball wide of Matz Sels and Colwill tapped home at the back post.
Forest's best chance to get back into the game came in injury time when Wood took Sels' long pass on his thigh in the area, but could not angle a shot on target, but by this point it was likely too late to prevent a fine season from Nuno Santo's side ending on a sour note.
BLUES END UP IN FOURTH SPOT
They leapfrog Newcastle and Aston Villa on the final day to take fourth, while Forest stay in seventh in the final Premier League table.
