THAT WAS SOME GOAL..
Well, they have had to be patient, but all good things come to those who wait. Newcastle heading for fourth place in the Premier League if this scoreline remains the same. Stunning play from Newcastle.

GOAL! (TONALI) NEWCASTLE 1-0 MAN UTD
Warning signs were there when Isak headed over seconds earlier, and it is Isak who chips the ball over the top from Trippier's pass for Sandro Tonali to drill the volley low into the corner of the net. Magical stuff.

BRUNO FERNANDES TAKES A TUMBLE
Zirkzee and Garnacho trying to get something positive going for the visitors before captain Bruno falls over on a slippy surface after Trippier can't keep ball in out wide with Newcastle on the attack.

GAME RIGHT IN THE BALANCE
The visitors with over 60% of possession so far, but nothing really between the sides as Trippier shows a nice turn of pace to prevent Bruno Fernandes from latching onto a ball over the top.

FIRST YELLOW CARD OF THE DAY HAS BEEN DOLED OUT
Tino Livramento on the run out wide for Newcastle, but Manuel Ugarte is late with the sliding challenge and that attracts the yellow card from referee Chris Kavanagh.

VIBRANT PLAY BY THE HOME SIDE
Haven't seen too much of Newcastle so far, but the Dan Burn pass is picked up by Isak. Lovely feet, but the final ball is nowhere and Man Utd can play it out.

ZIRKZEE LOOKING LIKE THE MAIN MAN FOR MAN UTD
Certainly playing with a bit of swagger in these opening moments as Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is off his line again to gather another cross. Playing himself into the match.

EXCELLENT ATTACKING MOVE BY THE VISITORS
Stunning piece of passing play involving Zirkzee and Fernandes inside the Magpies box before Zirkzee fires a shot at the home goal that is superbly tipped over by Nick Pope. Brilliant stuff from the visitors.

CONFIDENT PIECE OF GOALKEEPING BY THE NEW UNITED MAN
Altay Bayindir shows his alertness as he comes off his line to clasp a Kieran Trippier free-kick moments after Dalot's cross just eluded the head of Zirkzee.

BETTER MOMENTS FROM THE VISITORS
They have at least settled into what is a typically frantic start to a Premier League match as Fabian Schär is deemed guilty of a late challenge on Joshua Zirkzee.

MAN UTD TRY TO BUY SOME TIME BY KEEPING BALL
Which is always a good idea when you are faced with a hungry home side and passionate fans buoyed by the recent League Cup triumph. Ugarte tries to pick out Dalot, but too much on the pass and it races out of play.

NEWCASTLE CONTINUE ON THE SURGE
Murphy this time flashes a shot a few yards wide of the visiting goal after Zirkzee and Fernandes seemed to have a breakdown in communication. No question who wants this more early on.

HOME SIDE HAVE A GOAL RULED OFF
A very nervy start for the visitors with Joelinton nudging the ball into the net from the Trippier cross, but he was offside. Which is a relief to the men in red. Newcastle looking to make a fast start.

AMORIM EXPLAINS DECISION TO DROP ONANA
"These are normal things, sometimes you have to push the player to play again or let them disconnect," said the Manchester United manager speaking to Sky Sports.
"Tomorrow he’ll be in training to prepare for the next one, this was a good time to disconnect.
"He was OK. You don’t need to like, but you need to understand because I explain every situation. It’s a normal situation.
"We have to manage everything, the mental aspect is really important and it’s just one game."

HOW WILL EDDIE HOWE ABSENCE AFFECT NEWCASTLE?
"When you've been ill all week it's very difficult to have the kind of input he'd usually have," assistant manager Jason Tindall told Sky Sports.
"But with the way we work, we know the expectations.
"We've got a fantastic group of players and they know the expectations and demands that the manager, and everyone else, put on them.
"It's important they go out and put in a performance that the manager will be proud of."

GORDON BACK ON THE BENCH FOR NEWCASTLE
The home side are unchanged for the fifth straight match as they look to complete the double of two league wins over Man United for the first time since the 1930/31 campaign following their 2-0 victory at Old Trafford in December.
But Anthony Gordon is on the bench after missing much of March due to injury and suspension.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is handed a start for the visitors with Tom Heaton on the bench as Andre Onana is dropped from Ruben Amorim's squad following his errors in the 2-2 UEFA Europa League draw with Ligue 1 side Lyon.
18-year-old left-back Harry Amass is handed a full debut as United shuffle the pack with one eye on the return leg of their Europa League quarter-final second leg meeting with Lyon on Thursday night.

WATCH: DE BRUYNE MAGIC ILLUMINATES PREMIER LEAGUE
We were treated to one of the great Premier League matches of the season yesterday live on TNT Sports as Kevin De Bruyne turned on the style to inspire Manchester City's 5-2 win over Crystal Palace from 2-0 down at the Eithad.
"The scoreline did not reflect the game in the first 20 minutes," the Belgian midfielder told TNT Sports. "I'm going to enjoy every minute I have here. We need to win these games and perform like we did today.
"Be aggressive, and the most important thing is this club plays in the Champions League next season.
"I'm pain-free for the past six weeks. Which makes a massive difference.
"I don't know what is going to happen next, but I want to play on so we'll see where I end up. My family have been here 10 years so it is going to be something different for them."
Of course, a home win today for Newcastle would see them move back above City into fourth spot in the chase for a UEFA Champions League spot next term. A lot on the line after Chelsea were held 2-2 by Ipswich Town at Stamford Bridge.
