REPORT: MAGUIRE HEADERS GIVES TEN-MAN UNITED WIN OVER IPSWICH
Harry Maguire's header helped Manchester United defeat Ipswich Town 3-2 despite the Red Devils being reduced to ten men for more than half the match.
The hosts were a goal behind after just four minutes when a calamitous miscommunication between Andre Onana and Patrick Dorgu handed Jaden Philogene a tap-in.
Ruben Amorim's side equalised through a Sam Morsy own goal before taking the lead thanks to a scrappy Matthijs de Ligt finish.
United appeared to have taken control, but the game turned on its head when Dorgu was shown a straight red card for a nasty challenge on Omari Hutchinson.
Philogene scored his second of the evening to get the visitors back on level terms before the break.
However, Maguire's superb header restored his side's advantage, and they held on to secure a crucial three points in front of a jubilant Old Trafford crowd.
The result leaves Ipswich five points adrift of Premier League survival in 18th place, while United are now in 14th.

THE TNT SPORTS EXPERTS REACT TO RED DEVILS TRIUMPH
Rio Ferdinand: "No I think if we are being honest we have not seen the progress that we all anticipated.
"Considering where he came from and how successful he had been, the silverware that he had brought to Sporting Lisbon.
"The anticipation was like, WOW, what an opportunity we have got now with this young manager.
"It hasn't transferred here.
"I actually sat with him the other day, you can see that there is a desire and you can see that there is a work ethic behind the scenes.
"Things haven't been smooth for him, and he has not been able to get things to where he wants them at this time.
"I think he just needs to get to the end of the season and really regroup, and then start building again and build the team and coach the team.
"At the moment they have been stuttering along, and that is probably being polite saying it like that.
"They have just got to the end of the season."

FERNANDES AND MAGUIRE REACT TO UNITED'S WIN
Bruno Fernandes: "At the moment it is what it is, we have been suffering, we know that.
"We have not been at our best.
"We scored from two set=pieces but we were in complete control of the game.
"When you win games you get more confidence and you get braver, so hopefully in the next few games we are going to score more and more."
Harry Maguire: "Yeah obviously it was really important, we have found ourselves in a difficult position this year.
"Coming into the game we knew it was a big game for us, we had to turn our home form around.
"We obviously gave them a goal, a poor mistake on our behalf, but then we took control of the game.
"Then to lose a man again, I think that is three in the last two months or so, we made it difficult for ourselves."

UNITED SHOW HEART TO BATTLE BACK WITH TEN MEN
Manchester United may come in for their fair share of criticism, but you can't question this side's heart.
They battled back from 2-0 down at Goodison Park against Everton, and this evening they behind early before overcoming a one-man disadvantage to secure all three points.
The victory ends a run of three games without a win, and leaves them in 14th place in the Premier League table, level on points with Tottenham.
The Red Devils now face a crucial clash with Arsenal in their next league fixture.
It will be a tough pill to swallow for Ipswich Town fans though.
United's home form has been far from impressive this season, and you would have bet on The Tractor Boys to get at least a point out of the game after United were reduced to ten men.
However, it was not to be, and they are left five points adrift of Wolves and another season in the top flight.
They face a trip to high-flying Crystal Palace when the Premier League returns.
