BOURNEMOUTH BEAT FULHAM IN HUGE EUROPEAN BOOST
Andoni Iraola’s side gave their European push a huge boost this evening, with a 1-0 victory seeing them climb above Fulham and into eighth place in the Premier League.
Bournemouth made the perfect start to the match, finding the back of the net after just 53 seconds when Antoine Semenyo cut in from the right-hand side before rifling a low effort past Bernd Leno and into the back of the net.
The hosts continued to push forward looking to double their lead, and almost did so when Evanilson struck the crossbar from close range with 16 minutes on the clock.
Fulham grew into the match as the half went on but ultimately failed to create any real clear-cut opportunities.
Alex Iwobi went close to equalising for Fulham 20 minutes into the second half, curling a good effort looking for the top corner, but Kepa Arrizabalaga got across well to push it behind for a corner kick.
Bournemouth were unlucky to have not been awarded a spot kick 10 minutes from time when Bernd Leno rushed out at the feet of Evanilson and took the Cherries man out, but VAR opted to agree with the referees on field decision.
Fulham continued to push but to no avail, failing to make any of their 12 shots count as The Cherries sealed the win.
