Amorim faces crisis ahead of Everton test
The 2024/25 Premier League season continues to be a punishing one for 15th-placed Manchester United, who will again be without a host of options for their trip to Everton on Saturday - live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte and Christian Eriksen missed United's 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last week due to illness, and Amorim expects a return for the trio come Saturday lunchtime.
"This week is better than last week because we didn't lose players," he said. "Christian [Eriksen], Manuel [Ugarte] and Lenny [Yoro] return."
Amad Diallo's expected absence until the end of the season was a blow for United, while time-frames remain unclear regarding the returns of Altay Bayindir, Toby Collyer.
Jonny Evans, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw all look set to miss the trip to Goodison Park, while Lisandro Martinez is a certain absentee with his ACL injury.
Amorim added: "Amad [Diallo] is a long time, Mason [Mount] and Luke [Shaw] continue to recover but I don't have a date [for their return]. Toby [Collyer] is the closest, but not now. We have to adapt.
"Altay [Bayindir] and Tom are recovering. Again, we don't have a date."
Moyes lacking forward options
Widespread injuries to Everton's attacking unit in recent weeks have sparked a fine run of form for Beto - who was previously seeing very little game time under Sean Dyche's managerial reign.
The striker has netted four goals in as many matches, providing an antidote to the absences of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dwight McNeil and Armando Broja.

Iliman Ndiaye joined the lengthy list of absentees with a medial knee ligament injury sustained against Liverpool.
Moyes looks set to continue without the host of attacking options, alongside Seamus Coleman, Youssef Chermiti and Nathan Patterson for the visit of United, while Orel Mangala remains ruled out for the season.
The Everton boss, though, is boosted by the return of Abdoulaye Doucoure from his one-match ban.
City sweat on Haaland ahead of Liverpool test
Manchester City look to wipe away the disappointment of their emphatic UEFA Champions League exit to Real Madrid in the week, as they face Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday.
And they will be hoping to welcome Erling Haaland back to their starting line-up for the seismic clash, after he was forced to start on the bench in their midweek trip to Madrid.

'The best team won' - Guardiola admits Man City 'didn't deserve' to go through

Ahead of Sunday's blockbuster clash, Guardiola was asked about whether Haaland will participate.
"Don’t know yet. Tomorrow we will know," he said. "It's better to have Erling on the pitch but, obviously, we don't have that but, of course, with Erling we are stronger."
Manuel Akanji is out for the foreseeable future, while John Stones limped off at the Bernabeu, in what looks set to be another injury blow for the England international amid a disrupted campaign.
Speaking on the defender's fresh setback, Guardiola said: "He is injured - a difficult one. In the next days we will know if he needs surgery or not. It’s the front, his thigh."
Rodri remains a long-term absentee as he continues to recover from an ACL injury.
Gakpo will be a 'close call'
Cody Gakpo's participation at The Etihad will be a "close call", Liverpool boss Arne Slot said, as the Dutch forward closes in on a return from a short-term knock.
He missed Liverpool's last two matches against Wolves and Aston Villa, and Slot confessed to being unsure whether his compatriot can take part this weekend.
"Let's see," Slot said. "I hope [he's available]. I'm not 100% sure. He hasn't trained with the team yet. Maybe he does a bit today. I don't know exactly. It will be a close call."
Slot, meanwhile, said he would be "completely surprised" if Conor Bradley was ready to be involved in the trip to City, with the defender yet to return to training after limping off at Villa Park in the week.
The Liverpool boss also confirmed that Joe Gomez is set to be sidelined for "a long time".

"Joe Gomez had surgery for his hamstring injury, so he's out for a long time. He will be back maybe just before the end of the season.
"Then, of course, these two players are not injured but they come back from an injury – [Diogo] Jota and Trent [Alexander-Arnold], so that's also the reason they don't play 90 minutes five times in a row in 15 days. That would be a big risk, we could see this yesterday with Conor Bradley."
Paqueta out for West Ham as Arsenal remain short up top
Arsenal will take on West Ham United under Graham Potter for the first time since the former Chelsea boss's appointment, and Mikel Arteta will remain without the services of his injured attacking quartet.
Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus will all be out for the clash, with Saka and Martinelli expected to return next month.
Arteta gave an update on the duo, saying: "That's a question for the doctor. They are progressing really well. Gabby is a bit ahead of Bukayo but we will have to see how the boys are feeling and what we are prepared to do."
The Hammers are sporting injury issues of their own, with Lucas Paqueta ruled out of the trip to The Emirates after suffering an ankle injury in training.
Potter confirmed the Brazilian's absence on Thursday, while also ruling Vladimir Coufal out of the Premier League meeting.
"It was a training incident for Lucas Paquetá, just an innocuous one," Potter said. "He went over on his ankle and had a little bit of a collision with Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
"He’s rolled his ankle and will be missing for the game on Saturday, and probably Leicester as well. We’ll see how it is, but it’s swollen up a bit.
"We’ll take it day by day, but I imagine it’ll be a week or two he’ll be away.
"Apart from that, team news is pretty much as we were. Vladi [Coufal] still had a little bit of a feeling [in his hamstring] so the game will come too soon for him at the weekend. He has an outside chance for Leicester.
"[Crysencio] Summerville is still making progress but still for a timeline, you’re looking the other side of the international break for him."
Spurs stars nearing return
Injuries have been the theme of Ange Postecoglou's press conferences for large parts of the 2024/25 campaign, but he is welcoming more players back from the treatment table by the week.
Guglielmo Vicario returned in goal for Spurs in their 1-0 win over Manchester United last week, while Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert made substitute appearances after their injury lay-offs.
And Postecoglou said he expects Dominic Solanke, Richarlison, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven to return in the coming weeks.
Speaking ahead of Saturday's match against Ipswich Town, Postecoglou said: "No new concerns from last week, everyone has got through the week OK. The other guys are ticking along well.
"We've got two games in quick succession in the league and this is a good opportunity to give match minutes to guys who have been out for a while. We saw Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert and Guglielmo Vicario come back last week. James Maddison as well, Destiny Odogie, we need to give him some match minutes.
"We've got a week until the next European game and that's about the time we're hoping guys like Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in particular should be in and around that mark. Richarlison and Dominic Solanke are not too far behind."
Madueke 'out for a little while'
Noni Madueke limped off in the first half of Chelsea's second consecutive defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last week, and Enzo Maresca confirmed after the match it was a hamstring issue.
"Noni unfortunately has a hamstring problem, so unfortunately will be out for a little while," Maresca said.
When asked about a return date for the winger on Friday, the Chelsea boss added: "Probably after the international break, we can have most of the players back, maybe all of them and for us it can be a big boost."
Joining him on the sidelines is striking duo Marc Guiu and Nicolas Jackson, as Maresca expects the latter to be out until "after the international break".
Romeo Lavia, Benoit Badiashille and Wesley Fofana remain on the road to recovery, with comeback dates uncertain.
Botman out for Forest clash
Newcastle host third-placed Nottingham Forest on Sunday in an intriguing clash in their respective pursuits for a UEFA Champions League finish, and Eddie Howe gave updates on the fitness of Sven Botman and Joelinton ahead of the visit of Nuno Espirito Santo's high-flying side.
Speaking about Botman's availability, Howe said: "We don't think he'll be fit and available for this weekend.
"We're going to have to see how things stand over the weekend for next week.

"He's making good progress but just not as quickly as we want. So he's on track, there's been no setback or anything, he's very much on track, just not quite right."
Howe also gave an update on Joelinton's fitness, saying: "He's doing really well.
"He's pushing as Joe always does. We just need to make sure we introduce him at the right time."
Dunk 'in a lot of pain', March back
Solly March could make just his third Premier League appearance at Southampton on Saturday after returning from his lengthy lay-off, but Lewis Dunk remains out, "in a lot of pain", according to Fabian Hurzeler.
"It's an injury and an issue where I can't say whether it will take two weeks or three weeks," the Brighton boss said.

"Everyone who knows Lewis, knows he's trying really hard to get back to the training pitch as quickly as possible but at the moment he's in a lot of pain day-by-day in an area near the ribs."
Pervis Estupinan is available for selection at left-back, meanwhile.
