Liverpool won the Premier League title at a canter with four games to spare, but their players were caught somewhat by surprise by the way they dominated - especially given they had new manager Arne Slot at the helm, adding an unknown into the mix. But this is just the beginning of greater things, according to Reds midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

Alexis Mac Allister has been having his say on Liverpool’s Premier League win now that the dust has settled, following those epic scenes at Anfield when Liverpool comprehensively beat Tottenham Hotspur to seal the title.
Defeating Spurs 5-1 was an impressive way to win the league for the first time since 2019/20 and match Manchester United's record of 20 league titles, with Liverpool lifting the trophy with four games to spare.
Mac Allister has been an instrumental part of the Liverpool line-up this season, with the Argentinian chipping in with five goals in the league, including one against Tottenham on a famous day at Anfield.
"I didn't feel that we were going to win the league as easily as we did, because we are in a process that is just getting started," Mac Allister told ESPN.
"For many, it was a big change. The coach and the team know that we can continue to improve, and hopefully, this is the beginning of something great."
With Arne Slot at the helm in place of Jurgen Klopp, how Liverpool would react to a new playing style and a new coach was an unknown going into the season, but as Mac Allister said, the team have shown no signs of unease or confusion under Slot.

"The goal against Tottenham is the most important goal of my career," added Mac Allister.
"I don't know if it's the best I've ever scored, but it's definitely the most important.
"I'm happy with the season I've had. I think I'm in the best moment of my career and I can show in this great club what I can do.
"But I always said that I depend a lot on my team [and] I met players who helped me a lot in my game."

The biggest disappointment in Liverpool’s season is the fact that they went out of the UEFA Champions League at the last-16 stage.
Mac Allister feels The Reds - who topped the league phase - were "unlucky" to face the in-form Paris Saint-Germain side, who eventually triumphed on penalties.
PSG have gone on to make the semi-finals, where they take a lead into the second leg against Arsenal - a match that is live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

"We were unlucky in the draw, we got a great team," Mac Allister added. "It's hard to say, but we would have loved to have gone further.
"Either team could have reached the semi-finals. They were better on penalties, but next year we're going to fight."
Luis Diaz was in full agreement with his team-mate after Liverpool started their new era under Slot in the perfect way with their record-equalling league title.
"Many people didn't believe in us, but we proved ourselves day after day from the start of the season," Diaz said.
"We got the results and we trusted the coach. Plus, the team is full of great players, and the results help a lot. Since I arrived, it's been a time of great pride."
