Exclusive: 'I have to work on that' - Ryan Gravenberch on learning from Szoboszlai, Mac Allister at Liverpool

Liverpool's midfield underwent a major change in the summer with three new players - Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch - joining the club. Gravenberch says that the Reds new boys can already "feel each other" in the centre of the park after hard work on the training ground. But the Dutchman believes he needs to work on his stamina to deal with Premier League "intensity."

Gravenberch identifies areas where he can improve

Ryan Gravenberch says he and fellow Liverpool recruits Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister can already “feel each other” in midfield, but admits he must work on his stamina to deal with the "intensity" of the Premier League.
The 21-year-old Dutchman was one of three midfield signings this summer, arriving from Bayern Munich, while Szoboszlai joined from RB Leipzig and Mac Allister headed north from Brighton.
Gravenberch has faced tough competition for a starting spot in Jurgen Klopp’s side, but feels he has already developed a strong understanding with his new team-mates.
“We train a lot and in training we do a lot of 11 v 11. We can feel each other, also the strengths of each other. I think I can play very well with them,” Gravenberch told TNT Sports in an exclusive interview.
However, the relentless fixture schedule does present one problem – a reduced number of training sessions in which to work on things together.
“That’s difficult,” said the Netherlands international.

“But you have to figure each other out and it’s going well.”
Gravenberch is already well-travelled in his short career, having come through the ranks at Ajax before heading to Anfield after one season with Bayern in 2022/23.
But he has already identified one quality his team-mates possess more of, after being struck by the fast and furious nature of Premier League football in his debut campaign.
“I would not say I lack experience. I think it’s more the intensity that they [Szoboszlai and Mac Allister] play with,” he said.
“They have more stamina than me. I have to work on that.
“I didn’t play a lot last season, and I think if you compare that to now being in the Premier League, it’s a lot different to where I came from.”
He added: “Everywhere you go it’s a little bit different. Here the intensity of the midfield is a lot different than at Ajax. At Bayern there was also a lot of intensity but here it’s a little bit more, also because of the Premier League.”
