In an exclusive interview for TNT Sports, former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand offers his take on the club's search for a No. 9 with just a month remaining until the start of the Premier League season. Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen have both been linked with moves to Old Trafford but Ferdinand is adamant which striker should be Erik ten Hag's first-choice summer signing.

'Harry Kane would be my guy... immediate goals' - Rio Ferdinand talks Man Utd

Rio Ferdinand has told TNT Sports that Harry Kane would be the perfect addition for Manchester United as the club look to build on last season's third-place finish in the Premier League.
United have not won the league title since 2013, Sir Alex Ferguson's final season at the club.
Erik ten Hag enjoyed an impressive debut season at Old Trafford, winning the League Cup to end the club's six-year wait for silverware and finishing third behind Manchester City and Arsenal.
But Ferdinand believes the Red Devils need a talismanic striker if they are to bridge the gap at the top to perennial winners and bitter rivals Man City, adding "a trophy is a must".
United finished 14 points off City, who won the title for the third consecutive season to underline their status as the best team in England.
In an exclusive interview with TNT Sports, Ferdinand described Kane as his "dream signing".

Rio Ferdinand exclusive: Why I'd sign Harry Kane over Victor Osimhen for Manchester United

"It's been well documented that Manchester United need a No. 9. The striker they had at the club last season [Wout Weghorst] did not score a single goal," he said.
"Harry Kane would be my dream signing. Victor Osimhen would be a great addition, too.

"But if I'm Erik ten Hag, I'd go for Kane because he will deliver immediate goals."
Kane is out of contract at Tottenham next summer and has already been the subject of bids from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, according to reports in Germany.
He is Tottenham's record goalscorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances and is on track to beat Alan Shearer's all-time Premier League tally of 260 should he stay in England.
Ferdinand added: "There will be no bedding in period, he knows the Premier League inside out so there will be no acclimatisation issues.
"That's what Manchester United need right now and that's what Ten Hag needs."
United made leaps and bounds under Ten Hag's stewardship last season despite a sticky start that saw them lose their first four games in the league.

With a place in next season's Champions League secured, Ferdinand expects United to kick on in Ten Hag's second season at the helm.
"Manchester United have to look to improve again off the back of last season," he said.
"Consistency is going to be key and maintaining confidence throughout the campaign.
"There will be blips, but they need to make sure those blips do not last long if they are going to push Manchester City closer.
"A trophy is a must. You would like to think they can improve on the League Cup and target the FA Cup or even the Champions League!"
Manchester United play their 2023/24 Premier League opener against Wolves on Monday, August 14. Their first match to be shown on TNT Sports will be their trip to Burnley on Saturday, September 23 at 20:00 UK time.
