Peter Crouch, Rio Ferdinand talk up Arsenal’s title credentials: ‘You always feel they're going to win’

Peter Crouch has praised the way Arsenal have found the ability to win games late on following Declan Rice’s 97th-minute winner against Luton Town. The Gunners edged the seven-goal thriller 4-3, just weeks after Kai Havertz stole a win with a late header against Brentford. “You always feel like they’re going to win even from losing positions. It’s a great thing to have,” he told TNT Sports.

'You always feel Arsenal are going to win now!' - Ferdinand and Crouch on Arsenal mentality

Arsenal scored another late Premier League goal to snatch three points at the death with victory over Luton Town on Tuesday, and the TNT Sports team has praised the Gunners for their ability to churn out results.
Mikel Arteta’s team are chasing the club’s first league title for 20 years and managed to extend their lead at the top of the table after Declan Rice’s 97th-minute winner in a 4-3 triumph at Kenilworth Road.
The England midfielder, who joined Arsenal from West Ham United in a club-record deal during the summer, rose highest to narrowly guide Martin Odegaard’s cross beyond the outstretched hand of Thomas Kaminski.
A couple of weeks earlier, Kai Havertz came off the bench to head home an 89th-minute goal in a 1-0 win over Brentford and TNT Sports’ Peter Crouch has begun to expect the Gunners’ late heroics.
“It reminds me of Rio [Ferdinand]’s teams under Sir Alex Ferguson at [Manchester] United,” he said ahead of Crystal Palace’s match against Liverpool. “Even when they were losing, you thought that they were going to win the game.
“And Arsenal have got that at the moment. Not playing as well as they were last season, I think, but they’re still right up there winning games and you always feel like they’re going to win even from losing positions. It’s a great thing to have.”

Fellow pundit Ferdinand agreed and highlighted Rice’s role in the Arsenal team, who also scored a last-minute winner to give Arsenal another late win over Manchester United earlier in the season.
“I haven’t felt an Arsenal team where I’d sit there and go ‘I know they’re going to score late.’ he said. “That feeling you get with a team that looks capable of winning games, churning out results and being real title contenders to win a league.
“This team look like that now, and Declan Rice has just come in there, we haven't mentioned a 100-million-pound player, he has become almost the driving force of that team now.”
Arsenal’s win against Luton saw them stretch their lead at the top of the table to five points, until second-place Liverpool closed the gap to two with a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United.
Jurgen Klopp’s side can leapfrog the Gunners by a point, temporarily at least, with victory over Crystal Palace in Saturday’s early kick-off, live on TNT Sports.
The Gunners are in action on Saturday night against in-form Aston Villa later in the day.
