Crystal Palace have announced Austrian Oliver Glasner as their new manager, replacing Roy Hodgson. Hodgson stepped down earlier on Monday, revealing he had taken the decision so that the club could "bring forward" their managerial hunt. The 49-year-old Glasner had been out of work since last summer, when he left Eintracht Frankfurt. Palace play Everton on Monday night in the Premier League.

'Will not daunt him' - Honigstein on Glasner's appointment at Palace

Oliver Glasner has been appointed as the new manager of Crystal Palace, replacing Roy Hodgson who stepped down earlier on Monday.
Austrian Glasner was most recently in charge of Eintracht Frankfurt before leaving the Bundesliga club last summer.
Hodgson said that he was stepping down so that the club could "bring forward their plans for a new manager".
In a club statement, Palace chairman Steve Parish said: “I’m delighted to welcome Oliver to the club. He has an outstanding record, and we believe he is the right manager to take the club forward at this pivotal stage.
"Wherever Oliver has gone so far in his managerial journey, success has been quick to follow, and we believe his ambition, as well as his exciting and attacking approach is the perfect fit for getting the most from our talented young squad in the remainder of this Premier League season and beyond."
Glasner said he was “very happy” to join the club, as he takes on his first role of the season.
"I am looking forward to working with the talented squad, meeting the club's supporters and experiencing the Selhurst Park atmosphere I have heard so much about,” he told the club website.
"It has been a pleasure to meet with Steve [Parish] and Dougie [Freedman], and I am looking forward to working with them to achieve our goals."
Glasner takes over with Palace 16th in the Premier League after 10 defeats in their last 16 games, which has left them five points clear of the relegation zone.
The 49-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal which will keep him at Selhurst Park until 2026.
Glasner will take charge of his first match when Palace host Burnley on Saturday, meaning he will not be involved in Monday’s crucial game against Everton at Goodison Park which will be overseen by Ray Lewington and Paddy McCarthy.
Rumours of Glasner’s arrival intensified after he was spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to watch Spurs’ defeat to Wolves on Saturday, ahead of Palace’s tie against Ange Postecoglou’s side in two weeks.
Glasner won the UEFA Europa League with Frankfurt in 2022, a year before he departed the club at the end of the 2022/23 season.
After representing the club for 19 years, Glasner took charge of his first managerial role at SV Ried in 2014.
After the year he moved to LASK where he stayed for four years until 2019, before moving to the Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg in Germany.
After two years at Wolfsburg where he guided the club to UEFA Champions League qualification, he joined Frankfurt.
Glasner delivered European success in his first season as Frankfurt boss after beating Rangers in the final.
He led the club to the DFB-Pokal final in June 2023, which turned out to be his final game in charge of the German club, where they lost 2-0 to RB Leipzig in the final.
