FERNANDES INSPIRES MAN UTD COMEBACK
Manchester United moved up to sixth in the table after another madcap victory, this time against the bottom club Sheffield United at Old Trafford.
The hosts went behind twice, despite dominating the game throughout, before Bruno Fernandes cleaned up the mess through a combination of anger and individual brilliance.
Jayden Bogle put Sheffield United ahead after a loose pass from Andre Onana, but Harry Maguire’s accomplished header brought the home side level at half-time.
Ben Brereton’s crisp finish made it 2-1, at which point Fernandes decided he’d had enough. He smashed home a penalty after a foul on Maguire, then larruped a superb goal with his left foot to put Man Utd ahead for the first time.
Fernandes was involved in the sixth and final goal of the game, giving Rasmus Hojlund a tap-in with a precise cross.

MAN UTD 4-2 SHEFF UTD
It wasn't smooth, it rarely is at Old Trafford, but Manchester United got the job done eventually. Bruno Fernandes inspired their comeback from 2-1 down, and they will jump to sixth in the table because of Newcastle's defeat at Selhurst Park.

From Garnacho, a comfortable enough save to his left. The shot was from a tight angle.

GOAL! MAN UTD 4-2 SHEFF UTD (HOJLUND)
That should seal it. Fernandes has scored two, now he's made one with a superb, precise cross that is forced in from close range by Rasmus Hojlund. He needed that goal after a bit of a dry spell.

MAN UTD SET TO GO SIXTH
With Newcastle losing 1-0 at Crystal Palace, Man Utd are on course to jump to sixth in the table tonight. That position will probably bring a place in the Europa League rather than the Conference League, though there's a degree of uncertainty at this stage.

GOAL! MAN UTD 3-2 SHEFF UTD (FERNANDES)
Bruno Fernandes puts Man Utd in front with a screamer! He received a routine pass from Mainoo 25 yards from goal, shifted the ball onto his left foot and smacked a ferocious shot that flashed past Foderingham and into the corner.
It may have taken a very slight deflection but it was still a cracking strike from Fernandes, who has rescued Man Utd again.

CHANCE FOR SHEFF UTD!
Hamer works a short corner on the right and smashes a low cross that is half blocked at the near post. The ball rebounds to Brereton, whose fierce snapshot from eight yards hits Hojlund and ricochets to safety. That could have gone anywhere.

CLOSER GAME
It's been a more even second half, with Sheffield United having 42 per cent of the possession so far. In the first half they only had 17 per cent.

BRAVE KEEPING FROM FODERINGHAM
Fernandes's clipped ball over the top reaches McTominay, whose poked shot is blocked bravely by the outrushing Foderingham. He takes a whack from McTominay, and will need treatment, but he has kept the score at 2-2.

JUST WIDE FROM BRERETON!
Sheff Utd almost take the lead for the third time. Brereton controls Hamer's pass on the run, moves across Maguire and hits an early shot from 25 yards. It deflects off Maguire, wrongfoots Onana and dribbles just wide.

MAN UTD PUSHING FOR A WINNER
Dalot's cross loops over the bar after a nice combination with Garnacho. Then Fernandes smashes a wicked ball that deflects behind for a ... goalkick. Fernandes is charging round the field trying to win the game on his own.
