'That's our fault' - Jurgen Klopp blames his side after Liverpool held to draw by Manchester United

Jurgen Klopp blamed his Liverpool side after their 2-2 draw against Manchester United meant that The Reds lost the upper hand in the Premier League title race. The Anfield outfit knew that a win at Old Trafford would leave them two points clear at the summit after Arsenal's 3-0 win at Brighton, but a share of the spoils means that Klopp's side trail The Gunners on goal difference.

‘Not enough tempo’ – Klopp insists Liverpool can ‘do better’ despite Sheff Utd win

Jurgen Klopp said it was "our fault" after his Liverpool side surrendered their advantage in the Premier League title race with a 2-2 draw against Manchester United.
Klopp’s team went 1-0 up at Old Trafford through Luis Diaz’s acrobatic opener on 23 minutes, but superb strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo had the visitors on course to leave Old Trafford with a defeat that would have left them a point shy of Arsenal at the top of the table, rather than the two clear they would have been had they won.
However, Aaron Wan-Bissaka felled Harvey Elliott in the penalty area with seven minutes remaining, and Mo Salah’s spot-kick earned Klopp’s side a share of the spoils in a game that the German believes they should have won.
Liverpool had 28 shots to United’s nine, with 63% of the possession, in a game reminiscent of a late 4-3 FA Cup quarter-final defeat three weeks earlier.
In his post-match press conference, Klopp vented his frustrations.
“We played two games [at Old Trafford] and got one point and got knocked out of the [FA] Cup,” he said.
“But in all my time I don’t think we have ever dominated the way we did [today].
"Arsenal is a good football team and if [United] play like today, Arsenal will win that game, I'm 100% sure.
“I'm really sorry to say that but this is a matter of fact. We should've won both games and didn't. That's our fault."
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners remain top of the tree following their 3-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday evening, which lifted them above Liverpool, with Manchester City in hot pursuit in third after their 4-2 win at Crystal Palace.
Liverpool’s next outing is against Atalanta in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League, which will be shown live on TNT Sports and discovery+ on Thursday.
Their next league game is a home encounter with Oliver Glasner’s Palace.
