Sterling is one-on-one with Coufal near the goal-side touchline in the left channel. Coufal initially does well to take the front position to try and usher the ball out for a West Ham goal-kick, but the ball takes a small nick off the defender and Chelsea have a corner.

Gallagher whips in a good delivery from the left, but West Ham head it clear at the first attempt. West Ham have looked solid at defending set-pieces so far.

Paqueta leads a rare West Ham break here, and looks for the give-and-go with Bowen down the left. However, the winger's cut-back into the area for the Brazilian is well intercepted by Koulibaly.

Kovacic looks to send the ball over to Gallagher, but it is well intercepted by Soucek.

Minutes later, Reece James tries to attack down the right flank, but he is flagged for offside.

The Chelsea head coach is not happy with what he is seeing here. He is gesturing to his team not to keep playing the ball sideways but instead to try to play the ball forward through the lines.

West Ham, on the other hand, are very compact off the ball here.

Chelsea work the ball well through the lines. Sterling tees up the overlapping Cucurella down the left flank, but the Spaniard's cross is blocked by Zouma.

The home side recycle it, and James attacks down the right, and tries to put in a cross, but Rice blocks it and Chelsea have a corner. The set-piece is poor from Cucurella, it doesn't beat the first man. Paqueta heads it away from danger at the near post.

Chelsea have started the better here as they seem to be keeping the ball well. However, West Ham are standing firm in their shape.

A loss could potentially see them go 11 points behind Arsenal should the Gunners defeat Manchester United.

Chelsea have won three of their last five meetings against West Ham (W3, L2). They have also won their last two home games against them.

The last encounter between the sides ended in a 1-0 victory for Chelsea at the tail end of last season.

It was reported earlier today that Chelsea wing-back Reece James has agreed a deal to sign a new lucrative contract that will make him the highest paid defender in the club's history.

Nothing has been announced as of yet, though.
