So close for Watford! Now it's the visitors' turn to threaten! King curls a shot towards the corner and can only watch as it crashes agonisingly off the post.

Great save! Mbeumo drives Brentford forward on the counter with rapid pace, cuts inside and bends a left-footed shot that looks destined for the top corner. Once again Bachmann is there, at full stretch he pushes it around the post.

It may only be December, but there's clearly a lot riding on this game and the early signs suggest it may well be a cagey affair.

Watford have conceded a worrying number of goals under Ranieri but so far they've looked comfortable. A long way to go, of course.

Brentford spread the ball wide to Henry, who finds space down the left flank. He whips it across the face of goal, but there's no one making the run to the near post and Bachmann is able to claim it.

Kick-off! After the players take the knee, Watford get us underway at the Brentford Community Stadium!

Five minutes until kick-off! Brentford would move 10 points clear of the relegation zone with a win and would push them into the top half of the table ahead of Christmas. On the other hand, a victory for Watford would open up a six-point gap on the bottom three.

Did you know? Brentford are unbeaten in their last eight league games played on a Friday (W6 D2) since a 2-0 home loss to Fulham in November 2016. The Bees' first ever Premier League game was a 2-0 victory over Arsenal, played on the opening Friday of this campaign.

Last time out, Watford were overpowered by Manchester City...

Frank has also had his say on Watford: "It’s the third time I’m going to face them, and it’s the third Head Coach I’m going to face, not in a ten-year period, but a 12-month period and Ranieri is a different coach to Xisco Munoz, but I think what he has done is make them more offensive. I am sure that they look and think that they are a bigger club and better team than us. That is said with the biggest respect."

Ranieri on Brentford: "I’m not surprised [by their position] because I watched Brentford at the beginning of the season and it was very fantastic how they press, how they play and they continue this way. Brentford play very well, it’s a club that is managed very well. Well done to the coach, they have a very good system, they go straight away forward."
