It’s a rare thing, but City head into the game on the back of a defeat - a Manchester derby loss to United. They still hold an 11-point lead in the table, but Pep Guardiola will be looking for a response from his side against a Southampton team who snapped a dismal run of form with a win at Sheffield United on Saturday. We're 10 minutes in and City have not yet had a decent spell of possession. Saints look extremely confident and their full backs are pushing on at every opportunity.

Southampton in the ascendancy early. They pass through City once again and it takes a timely tackle from Ilkay Gundogan to avert the danger.

Good play from Saints. They get Armstrong in behind and he forces a corner. Ward-Prowse delivers into the box but City head it clear.

City were 1-0 winners of the reverse fixture at St Mary’s in December. Raheem Sterling was the match-winner that day, but if he’s to repeat the trick there’s unlikely to be an early goal as he’s on the bench.
