Mane rolls Aurier beautifully on the left of the Spurs area. He gets to the byline but can only chip his cross onto the roof of the net.

CHANCE! Spurs are on the rack here. Alexander-Arnold whips a delicious cross to the back post, but the unmarked Mane makes a mess of his header and it dribbles wide.

Another save from Gazzaniga! Alexander-Arnold unloads a ferocious drive from thirty yards. It's at a good, saveable height though, and Gazzaniga parries it away from danger.

GREAT SAVE AGAIN! Alexander-Arnold whips in a free-kick from the right, van Dijk heads at goal from six yards out and Gazzaniga tips it over the bar.

BRILLIANT SAVES BY GAZZANIGA! A lightning and precise one-two between Firmino and Salah opens a shooting chance to the latter, whose he drive is parried away by Gazzaniga. Firmino gets to the rebound and hammers a volley at goal from a tight angle, which Gazzaniga parries again and Aurier clears for a corner.

CLOSE! A brilliant swith of play from Eriksen finds Kane in acres on the left of the Liverpool area. He squares it first time to Alli, but it's just too far in front of him. Alli retrieves, crosses, and it ricochets out to Eriksen; he volleys the ball back across goal where the lunging Kane just fails to connect from six yards out.

Mane nods down a long ball to Salah, who hits a dipping volley tamely at Alisson. Spurs break immediately, and Son gets in space on the edge of the Liverpool area on the left but his shot is blocked out for a thorw-in.

Rose concedes the first corner of the game. It's overhit by Alexander-Arnold, but Liverpool work it back to him and win another, which Mane glances well over the bar.

There's a lull in proceedings as Aurier is treated. In the gap, there's time to inform you that Kane has now pulled level with Martin Chivers as Tottenham's third highest scorer of all time on 174.

Aurier hits the deck for Tottenham. Liverpool play on quickly, with Robertson flying down the inside left channel, but his cross is just too high for Salah.

Robertson and Mane combine quickly down the left. Robertson bursts past Eriksen into the Spurs area, but puts his low cross straight into the hands of Gazzaniga.

Kane looks super up for this. He closes down Alisson as he plays it square to Alexander-Arnold, sliding in to try and deflect the ball into the net. He misses, but this energy is reflected right through the Spurs team right now.

Alexander-Arnold whips a cross in to the front post now, but it's headed clear at the front post. Spurs are forcing the home team to work around the edges here.

Liverpool have settled now, and settle into possession. Henderson pumps a long cross into the Spurs area but Gazzaniga gathers comfortably.

A couple of crosses into the Spurs area by Liverpool come to nought.

It's fair to say that Anfield is stunned by that. Just before Tottenham scored, there was almost a mix-up between Sanchez and Alderweireld to give a chance to Liverpool; the way Tottenham broke thereafter was with a menace quickly realised.

What a start for Tottenham! Sissoko breaks forward and plays it to Son on the left. He cuts in and unloads a shot; it deflects off Lovren, hits the angle of post and bar, and Kane runs in to dive and head the ball into the corner!
