Liverpool win a corner and Maguire finds James, who tries to run Oxlade-Chamberlain but gets absolutely nowhere.

United are punchdrunk here, and Alexander-Arnold smacks a cross that clips Shaw's hand as he looks away, then Oxlade-Chamberlain drives a low shot which De Gea saves.

Liverpool are shredding United down the left, where Wan Bissaka is struggling to cope with pressing Robertson and tracking him and Mane.

Lindelof is holding his groin. He's had a shocker, but Bailly, on the bench, hasn't played since last season.

Brilliant save! Henderson dances into space across the face of the box and has options , but instead opts to panel one with his laces, that De Gea somehow tips onto the post as it screeches past him! Liverpool are on one here!

But here come Liverpool again, Robertson dashing by a spent Wan-Bissaka and sending a low cross into the middle as Shaw falls over - of course he does - and all Salah has to do is sweep home. But he somehow miskicks, sending the ball from his left against his right, and De Gea scrambles around the post. He's still not scored against United, though has a fair way to go until he's in Ian Rush territory.

Liverpool start at pace and Salah immediately burrows into the box but eventually United crowd him out.

I daresay both sides might take another 1-0 half.

United actually started well enough, but then Liverpool scored and might well have finished things, at the same time as setting up a hiding. But United eventually recovered, might've scored themselves, before almost going further behind. At some point in the second half, Liverpool will enjoy another period during which they emphasise the difference in class between the sides, and if it comes early, this could get messy.

A poor header from Maguire allows Salah to break and Lindelof totally loses Mane - he's having yet another mare - and Mane is in! He shoots straight, low and hard, seeking the near-post corner, but De Gea extends a go-go Gadget leg to make a signature save. Really, though, he shouldn't have smelt it.

Pereira, who's trying to make things happen, finds space and moves towards the box. He has options, but tries a shot which is straight at Alisson.

From wanting half-time, United are suddenly not quite as awful as previously.

United keep possession well - please do not adjust your sets, this is really happening - and Martial, who's drifted left, lifts a lovely ball over the top to Wan-Bissaka. He might shoot but instead pokes across, but Pereira, sliding in, can't quite get the contact he needs; if he'd gone with his left foot, he'd have had a split-second longer to get there, but went with his right and skewed wide.

Pereira weaves into the box and opts not to shoot when a lane presents itself; it quickly vanishes, so the ball goes back to Fred and wide to Martial, who looks far post then cracks a shot just past the near. It's not much, but for United it's something.

If United get to half-time at 1-0, they've had an almighty result.

No doubt Solskjaer will get stick for United's performance here, but there's not a manager in the world who doesn't get gubbed with these players.
