Hello and welcome to Eurosport's LIVE text commentary of the Premier League clash between Everton and Aston Villa. It's do or die time for Dean Smith's side, they realistically need five points from their last three points - and hope other results go their way. That makes this evening's game absolutely huge. The Toffees are in a rotten run of form - can Villa capitalise and put huge pressure on fellow strugglers West Ham and Watford? It's the business end of the season, for sure.

Close! Gomes loses the ball in midfield. Villa work it to Grealish in a central area, in a shooting position. He lets fly but the ball takes a deflection off Branthwaite which takes it just over Pickford's bar.

And with almost 10 minutes until half-time, we still haven't seen a shot on target from either side.

Over! Gomes tees up Iwobi and with the Villa defenders back-peddling, the space opens up for a shot. He leans back, though, and fires it well over from 25 yards.

Everton break from a Hourihane free-kick. Keane rolls the ball down to Richarlison on the right flank. He's awaiting support but none of his team mates make the run and eventually the move breaks down, with Douglas Luiz making the block.
26'
Grealish runs into the box, hoping to weave his magic, and stays on his feet even after contact from Davies. Everton clear, but had the playmaker gone to ground there the referee would have had a difficult decision to make.
24'
Play resumes. It has been an open affair but Villa need to show a bit more quality in the final third if they are to record a much-needed victory in their quest to beat the drop.

It is time for the first-half drinks break.

Branthwaite, just 18, is clattered by Mings when defending a set-piece. He'll be fine but Premier League football may take some getting used to.

Injury! Holgate has just recovered from a knock but he's down injured and in some pain. Everton are preparing a sub. That's going to be the end of his evening.

Over! It has been an open game and here come Villa. Elmohamady sends a cross into the Everton box, searching for Samatta who heads well over the bar. The pressure from Keane put him off.

Crossbar! Villa continue to defend very narrowly as Everton build an attack down the left. Bernard searches for the far post with a cross... Reina is back-peddling and it almost ends up in the far corner! Fortunately, for Villa, it cannons off the crossbar and away to safety.

Grealish drives through the middle in a threatening move from Villa. He finds Trezeguet to his left but he loses it to Coleman.

Possession stats: Everton 65% - Aston Villa 35%.

Richarlison drops to the left flank and stands up a dangerous ball to the back post. Mings' header comes off Calvert-Lewin's chest and goes behind for a Villa goal-kick. That could have gone anywhere!
8'
Coleman's cross is deflected out for a corner. Everton have scored 10 goals from corners this season, a Premier League high. Digne plays a give and go with Bernard and then the cross is eventfully blocked. Why not just get it in?
7'
Trezeguet whips a teasing cross into the box but Keane intervenes with a headed clearance.
6'
Only Norwich have secured fewer away points than Villa this season and they have made a slow start to proceedings here.
4'
Already Everton have looked more positive than they were in the dismal defeat to Wolves.
