It ends all square at Selhurst Park. This wasn't a classic start to the 2019/20 Premier League season, it has to be said. Everton dominated the first half and then Palace had the better of the play in the second. Neither could break the deadline, though. Few real opportunities.

The injury sustained by Gomes at the end of the first half was a turning point in this match for Everton, even more so than the red card. Things changed after that moment.

There have been goals in every other Premier League game this season (well, this weekend). Could this be the first stalemate of the 2019/20 campaign? Looking that way.

This is getting very nervy for Everton now. Zaha is starting to cause them some problems. You'd have to think Hodgson regrets not playing the winger from the very start.

Threatening! Zaha shows some good feet around the box and gets the dangerous cross into Wickham, but Keane was alert and made the clearing header under some pressure.

One thing that you can say about Everton is that they are now sitting back and settling for a point despite being reduced to 10 men. They are going for it. They want all three points.

Kean has given Everton a bit more presence in attack, but they are still struggling to really test Guaita in the Crystal Palace goal. This has been really poor from the away side.

Silva wants his players to show some composure when they are on the ball. Everton are allowing a degree of panic to creep into their game and the Portuguese coach is warning against this.

This has been a really disappointing performance from Everton. They failed to make the most of their dominance in the first half and now they are holding on for a point here.

Silva reshuffles his midfield pack following the red card shown to Schneiderlin and Davies comes on.

SENT OFF! Oh dear. This has gone from bad to worse for Everton. Schneiderlin has been shown a second yellow card for a foul on Milivejovic. The Toffees have been reduced to 10 men.

In behind! Van Aanholt got in behind the Everton defence and fizzed an excellent cross right across the six yard box, but there were no takes and Digne made the clearance on the slide.

Injury! It looks like Van Aanholt might be struggling here. That would be a blow to Crystal Palace. The full back might have to be withdrawn. Hodgson has got a decision to make.
