There's clearly only so long Southampton can keep the visitors at bay - they need to be more aggressive.
16'
Luiz plays a long ball forward but he's a bit too forward for Willian and McCarthy makes the catch.
14'
Southampton are densely packed in the box, defending deeply which one suspects they feel is the only way they can escape today's match unharmed, but it's very passive.
11'
Chelsea are looking relentless thus far, pressing and pressing, and Southampton are giving them a fair old bit of space in the midfield. It could be a log afternoon for the home side.

A second corner from Willian but Hoedt gets to it in time.
6'
Eden Hazard gets to the ball and he's building pace as Bednarek takes him down to stop him before he can inflict the usual damage.

Chelsea win a corner, taken by Willian who looks to the far post but it's a decent save by McCarthy who fists it away.

Mark Hughes already looks miffed, and fair enough - Chelsea are out of the traps first with some crisp passing culmiating in a Kante cross to Azpilicueta, which is straight into the arms of McCarthy.

And we're off!

Not long now...

Over at Southampton, things have been less inspiring. Mark Hughes said earlier this week: "Our home form is going to be a big factor in determinging what sort of season we have." And that home form really isn't great at the minute, having failed to beat Burnley, Leicester and Brighton at St Mary's.
13:50
He's on the bench today but you may have heard Cesc Fabregas waxing lyrical to the press about new manager Maurizio Sarri, this week. He said of the Chelsea gaffer: "I feel sensations under Sarri that I never thought I would feel again."
13:45
Meanwhile, I would go as far as to say Southampton are at risk this season. They go into their eighth game with just one win behind them and only five points. They are the mirror image, almost, of Chelsea at the bottom of the table - just two points off the drop zone.
13:40
Chelsea go into today's match unbeaten in the league thus far this season, sitting in fourth place on the table and just two points behind table toppers Man City.
13:30
The visitors, enojying a rather better seadson start make just one change as Ross Barkley replaces Mateo Kovacic.
13:25
Struggling Southampton make three changes from their last league match - a rather disappointing 2-0 defeat by Wolves. So Mark Hughes brings on Maya Yoshida, Manolo Gabbiadini and Jan Bednarek as Jannik Vestergaard and Charlie Austin drop to the bench and Mohamed Elyounoussi slips out of today's squad.
