It hasn't been the best of starts from United but their loud travelling support are making noise for Mourinho, chanting his name. The Portuguese responds with a wave.

United have a chance to spring a counter-attack. Rashford gallops forward on the flank but he has few options in the penalty box and his cross zips harmlessly across the surface and out for a throw-in on the opposite side.

Hazard, Alonso and Willian are standing over the ball, as Chelsea weigh up their options. Up steps the latter, who leans back and curls his free-kick miles over the bar. Disappointing.

Another Chelsea free-kick, but this time it's in really dangerous territory after Matic is brought down by Mata.

Hazard receives some harsh treatment from Young who clatters into the magical Belgian while challenging for a high ball. Chelsea take the free-kick quickly.

Chelsea have certainly settled into the contest quicker and we have already seen some of that 'Sarri-ball' style of football the Blues faithful have become accustomed to this season. In fact, the hosts have had 83 per cent of possession so far.

Chelsea have been accused of not playing to Morata's aerial strength, but Azpilicueta delivers a lovely teasing cross just now. The Spaniard, however, has his arms all over Smalling and Mike Dean spots the infringement, awarding the visitors a free-kick inside their own penalty area.

There is a raucous atmosphere at Stamford Bridge on this fine autumnal afternoon. Chelsea are stroking the ball around in midfield, United are sitting deep and inviting pressure.

United start on the front-foot and win a second-minute corner. Mata swings it to the near post but the Blues defence deal with it comfortably enough.

KICK-OFF!
Chelsea get us underway at a sunny Stamford Bridge.
12:25
Right then, there are now only five minutes until kick-off. Who is ready for this one? It feels massive, perhaps even season-defining. A win for Chelsea would not only pile the pressure on title rivals City and Liverpool, but also Jose Mourinho who would have lost four league games. The Red Devils are determined to win a second consecutive game to set them up for the home Champions League match with Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus in midweek.

On paper, United's defence is clearly a concern.

Mourinho: "For me, it's another game. Would I celebrate like crazy my team's goal at Stamford Bridge or my team's victory? I don't think so.
"I think I would try always to control myself and to respect the stadium and the supporters that were my supporters for many years.
"It's a match I want to do well for my players, for my team, for my supporters. I'm 100% Manchester United - no space for anything more than respect."

On the other hand, Manchester United. Well, where do you start? They have had a difficult start to the season, losing three times and already SEVEN points behind the leading pack. There have been reports that Mourinho fell out with Paul Pogba; earlier this month there were rumours the Portuguese would be sacked and yet he is still hanging on. Last time out United came from behind to beat Newcastle 3-2 with a last-minute winner. Will that Alexis Sanchez goal prove the turning point in the Red Devils' season? Today's match feels massive in terms of Mourinho's short-term future.

Sarri: "I'm very happy with the results but we need to improve, and we can improve.
"We've had no time to work; I had eight players at the beginning of August and now we've started to play every three days so it's very difficult to work, improve the team and improve the players.
"We need to improve our performances in the defensive phase. At the moment we are giving the opponents too many opportunities."

It hasn't been a bad start to the season for Chelsea, has it? Six wins and two draws sees the unbeaten Blues joint top with Manchester City. But who saw it coming? After all, Antonio Conte took the first pre-season training sessions, with Sarri left with little time to work with the players before the season started.
