14'
Southampton keep the ball around the defence, with Palace not pressing that high up the pitch.
13'
Yoshida slides down an excellent pass for Cedric's run down the right wing, but he's called offside.
12'
Tadic curls in an early cross to the back post for Long, who had peeled off to the right. He looped a header back from where it came, but well wide of goal.
9'
Townsend tackles Lemina, drives down the wing and wins a foul when he's tripped - perhaps - by Hoedt. Nothing from it.
8'
Bertrand's cross is headed into the air, and Palace then win a free kick to relieve the pressure for now.
7'
Puncheon concedes a foul on Cedric on the right wing, giving Southampton the chance to cross from the right. Bertrand and Davis size it up.
6'
GOAL! Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton. Davis scores - Redmond finds Tadic on the inside right in the box, he takes a touch to the byline and fires in an awkward ball for Hennessey to deal with. He pushes it away from goal, but straight to Davis, who sidefoots home.

Pellegrino has elected to start with Shane Long in attack. He's an occasionallly excellent player, but often struggles to perform as a striker consistentlly. Virgil van Dijk is back as a substitute after a difficult summer.
12:10
Don't tell Mauricio Pochettino that goals are overrated: “I have got the best strikers I can have at this moment. My job is to work with them and to try and improve them. To score a goal is the most difficult thing in modern football. That is why people who score goals are worth £100m, £200m. We have created chances and deserved to score more goals than we have, but you have to convert these chances. I see this game as an opportunity to convert more chances, to arrive in the final third and create more."
12:05
Hodgson appears to have moved on from the England job, saying: "At the moment I’m south London. I’m here in Beckenham. A lot of the Crystal Palace fans who will be reading this, the ones who interest me most of all, will want to know what Roy Hodgson is saying about Crystal Palace. What is he saying about the job? About our team? That Iceland game has gone and has no relevance to my work now."

Palace don't have many options to choose from with their squad. The only notable sub they really have is Patrick van Aanholt, who starts from the bench. The job is more about finding a style to suit the players, something Frank de Boer could not manage.
11:55
This is Roy Hodgson's first match as Crystal Palace manager. It's a chance for him to re-establish his reputation after a very poor few years in charge of England. He did a similar job with Fulham, but overachieving twice in relatively quick succession is never easy for a manager.
