Southampton have earned 39 points in 2016, a tally only bettered by champions Leicester. The Saints have won eight and lost just one of their last 10 league games at St Mary's.

Watford haven’t won any of their three previous season openers in the Premier League (D1 L2), but they are unbeaten in their last nine league matches on opening day (W5 D4 L0).

Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri like today's adversary, encounters Premier League football for the first time in his career having left Inter Milan in 2014. He is without new signing Isaac Success, but starts with last season's top scorers Odin Ighalo and Troy Deeney.
