90+4' and that's the full time whistle. The Sunderland men look absolutely desolate as we end the game 1-1 thanks to a stoppage-time equaliser from Virgil van Dijk.
GOAL! I was just typing "this is nail-biting stuff for Sunderland", as van Dijk scored for Southampton. 1-1 at St Mary's
We have four minutes of stoppage time to play, by the way.
A final substitution by Sunderland - Kirchhoff leaves the pitch to make way for John O'Shea.
In summary: Sunderland are a goal up, Southampton are a man down, and we've three minutes (plus stoppage time) left to play.
A shirtless man prowls the pitch in celebration. Not sure where he came from.
GOAL: Jermain Defoe has produced what Sunderland have been looking for, for the last 84 minutes, with a strike from just outside the keeper's box.
Seb Larrson gets a chance in front of the goal, but it's just wide and just over. So, off target, then.
Making a defensive change, Koeman has brought on Yoshida for Mane.
van Aanholt chips a free kick which soars beautifully over the defensive wall... and into the palms of Forster who blocks it.
Oh dear. Saints captain Jose Fonte is involved in a scuffle with Borini, who he appears to be holding back as he brings him down. That's a red card.
And Larrson's first involvement in the game ends with a free kick to Southampton, after a foul on the opposition.
Larrson is coming on for Khazri who's leaving before he can get himself in any more trouble.
The ref gives them both a talking to, they neither of them look very happy about it and Khazri has earned himself some pantomime boos. But we play on...
Khazri is on the floor and there are some angry faces here. Pelle has knocked him down but he's stayed down for an unnecessarily long time. Pelle's gone to help him up but it does look rather more like he's telling him to get up. Khazri doesn't like that, and apparently neither do his team mates.
Southampton should be a goal up now, a wasted opportunity there by Pelle who takes too long to do anything with Junami's ball.
The ball is played down to Defoe, who would be in a good position but for the complete absence of his team mates to lend a helping boot.
Juanmi looked like he might be on for his first goal in English football on the post, there. But Rodwell is present and ready to clear it.
Some changes for Southampton: Clasie is replaced by Juanmi and Ward-Prowse will come on for Steven Davis.
