That's full time. 1-1 as Villa fight back with one piece of exceptional talent after looking buried in a miserable, wet first half where Newcastle looked like the only competent team. It probably isn't enough for Villa, and maybe not for Newcastle, but a huge improvement after their early struggles.

Janmaat slips in Sissoko down the right of the box. He pulls it across to Perez, just behind him and he drags his shot over the near post.

Gestede comes to meet another cross to the back post but misses proper contact. Newcastle break with Perez, but the move breaks down and the ball is hoofed to Gestede, who goes down under a challenge. Newcastle play on, and Gestede is back up when Guzan claims it.

Gestede meets the corner and Elliot has to tip over with a smart save.

Ayew runs past Colback, then takes on Janmaat who tackles him to concede a corner. Colback was obviously holding Ayew back there.

Gestede heads the free kick behind for a corner on the left. Perez takes, and it's glanced wide by Mitrovic.

Perez is tripped by Sanchez in midfield, and he's booked.

Thauvin crosses towards Mitrovic, but it's headed away just before it reaches his leap.

Ayew is booked for preventing a quick Newcastle throw in midfield.

Perez sprints across the halfway line on the break, so Bacuna throws him to the ground and takes a booking.

Veretout sprints into space on the right, but his ball across the box is intercepted. Hutton has it back, and he's tripped by Thauvin. Free kick 25 yards out.

A cross is rolled to Wijnaldum, and he scuffs it straight at Guzan from a few yards out.

Mbemba covers on the right, and manages to force out a pass to the touchline.
