The full-time whistle goes and Aston Villa's relegation is confirmed. They left it too little too late to offer any sort of threat today, but still scared a United side who should have been out of sight. Marcus Rashford was excellent yet again, but it will take more than the youngster’s goals alone to catch Manchester City in the race for a top four place. At Old Trafford it finishes Manchester United 1, Aston Villa 0.

Martial plays Depay in behind the Villa defence, but Guzan makes a save with his trailing hand to deflect the shot on to the post.

Martial is pinged for a push in the box and raises his eyebrows in surprise at the decision. That's about as animated as I've ever seen him get.
86'
Sinclair tries to win a corner, but ends up only running the ball out of play for a goal-kick. If only Villa could have started playing with their current intensity a bit earlier.

Gestede rises high in the box and gets a powerful header on target, but De Gea makes the save. The win might not be in the bag for United after all.

Villa have exploded into life. A goalmouth scramble results in a Gestede shot that crashes off the post and Ayew can't react in time to turn the follow-up on target.

Villa are agonisingly close to an equaliser. Ayew bursts into the box and squares the ball past De Gea for Gestede, only for Blind to deny him for two yards out. What a chance!

Gestede replaces Richardson for the final ten minutes.

That sums Villa up. To leave a man free once like that is bad enough. To leave him free twice is unforgivable.

Villa fail to learn their lesson and leave Mata free at the near post yet again from a corner. The Spaniard turns and fires a shot across the face of goal, but it files wide and there's nobody there to turn it home.

Rashford is given a standing ovation as he makes way for Martial. The youngster has been superb today.

The Villa fans roar their approval as the delivery flicks off a United head and drifts behind for a corner. I'm not convinced they are taking this seriously...
74'
Ayew is fouled midway inside the United half and Villa send their big guys up for the cross.
73'
Rojo takes a Depay pass down in the box, but he asks for too much time and fails to get a shot away.
72'
Ayew takes a minute to compose himself, but he's going to be fine to continue.

Memphis puts a shoulder in on Ayew, completely fairly, but it knocks the striker off balance and he careers down the slope at the edge of the pitch and crashes into the hoardings. That looked painful.
