It's half-time at Anfield and Liverpool deservedly lead by two goals to nil.

Milner makes a terrific block to deny Aguero's header from close-range. It hits his chest more than his arm and City's penalty appeals are waved away.

Firmino is fractionally offside as Liverpool try to grab a third before the break. They've been much the better of the two sides in this first half, replicating their energy and width from the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

Credit also to Adam Lallana for a brilliant piece of skill in the build-up to that goal. The midfielder's had a great game so far; he's the stand-out player on the pitch.

GOOOAAALLL!!! James Milner makes it 2-0 to Liverpool, collecting a fizzed pass on the edge of the area and poking a shot past Hart as the defenders closed in on him. Man City are reeling.

Liverpool have continued to dominate since the goal and Manchester City really need to liven up if they are to avoid slipping further off the pace in the Premier League title race.

It's fair to say that Joe Hart didn't cover himself in glory there. The England stopper acted like a goalkeeper who'd switched off and, although the game was hardly a thriller, he really should have been a lot more alive to the danger as Lallana lined up his shot.

GOOOAAALLL!!! Adam Lallana has a speculative shot from distance as the City defence fail to close him down. His shot is hardly fizzing, but Joe Hart is leaden-footed and fails to get anywhere near it as the ball bobbles into the bottom corner. 1-0 Liverpool!

Mignolet is alert off his line to beat Aguero to a clever slipped through-ball. That's more like it from City: crisp, incisive, threatening.

There's plenty on the bench for both teams tonight and you can expect to see plenty of changes in the second half given that the current XIs are cancelling each other out.

City break through Fernandinho, but Liverpool have looked impressively solid at the back so far tonight and snuff out the attack before Aguero can be picked out.
