Zaha has made a lively start. combining well with Ward down the Palace right - but once more Ashley Williams comes across to snuff out the danger for Swansea.

Swansea are enjoying a bit more possession as they start to get a foothold in the game. They started like a side with eight changes, though...

A good atmosphere at Selhurst Park and a strong start from Crystal Palace, who might just go as high as fourth in the table today.

The replay shows Shelvey's 'handball' was nothing of the sort - the ball hit Shelvey on the back, then Palace's James McArthur on the hand. Definitely no penalty, good decision by ref Neil Swarbrick.

In fact, Puncheon takes the free-kick left-footed. It's not convincingly defended by Swansea but, after a spot of head tennis and a half-hearted penalty appeal for a Shelvey handball, the visitors eventually clear.

Shelvey hacks down Souare in full flight and is lucky not to pick up a booking. But Palace have a dangerous free-kick 30 yards from goal on the left side... Cabaye to take.

Williams comes across to the left to snuff out a Ward run down the wing - albeit at the cost of a throw... the ball bobbles tantalisingly across the box but just eludes Chamakh and Swansea scramble it clear.

Game on! Swansea kick off, playing from right to left as we see it. They are all in white, with the home side in their red and blue stripes.

The teams are out, and as ever it's Marouane Chamakh's hair that catches the eye. I'll try and find a picture. It's ever so slightly different from normal, with a wonky gelled side parting...

And here's your stat if you fancy Swansea to do it: Alan Pardew has picked up just eight points in eight previous Premier League encounters with Swansea City (W2 D2 L4).
14:55
Think Palace will win? Here's your stat: The Swans have suffered defeat in their last three Premier League away trips – they have not lost four successive top-flight away games since their opening four trips in the Premier League (Aug-Oct 2011).

Swansea caretaker Alan Curtis had this to say after the Boxing Day win over West Brom: "Psychologically, we're out of the bottom three. It's somewhere we've not been for a long time. From a confidence point of view, it's bound to give the players a huge lift." Well, Swansea are out of the bottom three, but only by a point - the bottom six currently looks like:
  • 15-Chelsea 19pts
  • 16-Swansea 18
  • 17-Norwich 17
  • 18-Newcastle 17
  • 19-Sunderland 12
  • 20-Aston Villa 8

It might have been in a losing cause, but Bafetimbi Gomis supplied one of the images of the season with his goal against Manchester City. That is his only goal in the last 14 matches after starting the season with four in four.

Crystal Palace have had quite a year, and doesn't Alan Pardew know it? "There's only one or two years that have probably been better than this. But 11 away wins in one calendar year is phenomenal. I don't know if I'll ever be able to repeat that at any other club. We'll have to wait and see."
