Sixth placed West Ham are winless in their last five Premier League away games (L2 D3) and have netted just twice in this run.
Slaven Bilic on Afobe: "He's a very good player. They have also signed Juan Iturbe from Roma who is a great winger. Bournemouth are thinking big, so well done to them. They had a lot of injuries and have done well to maintain good results without those players, but they have probably been waiting for this transfer window."
STAT: Bournemouth’s 4-3 win over West Ham in August is their only competitive victory in six attempts versus the Hammers (D2 L3).
Eddie Howe, Bournemouth: "[On new signing Benik Afobe] I felt we needed a striker. Callum [Wilson] we lost and that was a huge blow to us and we have lost Josh King with hamstring problems. It has left us very light and we need firepower. We need players who can come in and do the job. The players we have here proved they can do a job. [Glenn] Murray came off the bench and scored and it was good to see Lee Tomlin score. But we are light on the ground and hopefully he (Afobe) will add competition for places and real quality in the position."
So the big news is that Benik Afobe makes his AFC Bournemouth debut up front as Juan Iturbe starts on the bench after his transfer from Roma went through on time.
AFC BOURNEMOUTH: Boruc, Francis, Cook, Gosling, Surman, Arter, Daniels, Smith, Stanislas, Afobe, Ritchie. SUBS: Federici, Distin, O'Kane, Pugh, Grabban, Murray, Iturbe.
Here's how the teams line up.
